Bill McElvain, who attends a
radio engineering school in
Omaha, and his fiancee, Miss
Kay Coventry of Inman, were
home for Christmas. They left
for Omaha Friday, where they
were married the next day. Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph McElvain, Bill’s
parents, visited with their daugh
ter, Miss Margaret, who was in
the wedding party. She is a stu
dent nurse at St. Elizabeth’s
school of nursing in Lincoln. She
is expected home for New Year’s
day.
Mrs. Charles Havranek and fam
ily were Mr. and Mrs. Lou Havr
anek and Larry of Atkinson.
Larry stayed overnight with his
cousins.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shierk had
as their guests for Christmas
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Benson and
girls of Marshall, Minn. Mr. Ben
son returned home and his wife
and daughters remained until Sun
day when Mr. Marshall returned
for them.

Okla., was a weekend guest in the
home of his cousins, Mr and Mrs
Thomas Greene.

for a few days. Sunday the Hav
meks and Mr. Skrdla went to
Verdigre to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Leon Marshall.
Miss Bonnie Burvail, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. James Conway,
is home for the holidays from the
college of St. Mary in Xavier,
Kans. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ray of
Loveland, Colo., are visiting their
son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs.
Elgin Ray and daughters, during
the holidays. They went to Cody
Thursday to visit their daughter
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Mc
Coy Rhodes.
Miss Marilu Uhl, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Uhl, is
home from the college of St.
Mary in Omaha.
Miss Betty Schultz is home
from Hastings college in Hastings.

Two Plays Included
in School Program

sented a Christmas program Mon
day evening, December 22. Ninety
people were in attendance.
Two plays. “Hill Billy Christ
mas and "Christmas Comes But
Once a Year", included recitations
anil songs.
Bruce Bowen was reader for the
manger scene, “Christ Is Bom .
Gary Stauffer and Virginia Sojka
sang a duet, "Away in a Mang
er". The role of Mary was played
by Seal Luebeko; Joseph, by Tom
my Sojka; Andrea Wettlaufer and
Virginia Sojka were angels, Stan
ley Sukup and Karen Harris were
shepherds, and wise men were
Gary ami Monte Stauffer and Mar
sha Stauffer.
Virginia Sojka played a piano
solo. A group of girls spelled out
the word “Christmas" in song.
A lunch of sandwiches, pickles,
cookies and coffee were served.
Santa Appears at
District 39 Event
PAGE Mrs. Mary Park and
her pupils presented a Christmas
program Monday evening, Decem
ber 22, at the district 39 school.
Santa Claus made an appearance
and distributed gifts and treats.
Miss Henrietta Blaine and tier
three pupils. I toys in the second,
fourth and sixth grades present
ed their program Tuesday eve
ning, December 23. The variety of
program numbers, plays, recita
tions and music numbers would
have been a credit to a larger
school.
