And while it rocks, 18 sways to the minute, a music Ixw lulles him with a Brahms lullaby. Grandfather Leo made the cradle for James Joel in his machine shop at Atkinson. He said it took all of his spare time for nearly 50 days. The tiny motor is powered by electricity. When mother Gokie hap pens to walk by and notice her son is asleep, she merely turns a switch and goes about her housework. When James Joel awakens he looks up into a covey of brightly colored birds that seem to be fly ing above him. They are attached to one of the sides of the birch cradle. "I have been turning down offer after offer to duplicate the cradle from people who want to buy one," Mr. Kramer said. “I decided when I finished the job that it was going to be my first and last." James Joel is the only grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Kramer.
