The 31^-months-old tot swigs his
milk and is rocked to sleep in a
motor-driven cradle.
And while it rocks, 18 sways to
the minute, a music Ixw lulles him
with a Brahms lullaby.
Grandfather Leo made the cradle
for James Joel in his machine shop
at Atkinson. He said it took all of
his spare time for nearly 50 days.
The tiny motor is powered by
electricity. When mother Gokie hap
pens to walk by and notice her son
is asleep, she merely turns a switch
and goes about her housework.
When James Joel awakens he
looks up into a covey of brightly
colored birds that seem to be fly
ing above him. They are attached
to one of the sides of the birch
cradle.
"I have been turning down offer
after offer to duplicate the cradle
from people who want to buy one,"
Mr. Kramer said. “I decided when
I finished the job that it was going
to be my first and last."
James Joel is the only grandchild
of Mr. and Mrs. Kramer.
Here is a tip for James Joel that
