mechanic course at the Seventh
army training center in Vilseck,
Ge-many. Socialist Lueken, son
cf Mr. and Mrs. Melvin A Lue
ken, is a tank gunner in com
pany A of the 14th armored cav
alry regiment in Fulda. He en
tered the army in January, 1957,
received basic training at Ft.
Leonard W'xxl, Mo., and arrived
in Europe in April, 1957. The 21
year-old soldier is a 1955 gradu
ate of Lynch public high school.

the presentation. Guests were al

Inman camps.
Mesdames Carrie . Townsend,
Evelyn Gray, Leila Snell and John
Gray were honored as charter
members of the Page lodge which
was organized December 14, 1920.
All other members who had a
record of 20 years or more were
given honorable mention. Twenty
year and charter members were
presented corsages.
Mrs. Carrie Townsend is the
owner of a chivalry pin given for
her work in the organization of
the Page lodge and for “outstand
ing community work ’’ She was
the only member present who earn
ed that distinctly.
Reminiscing was done by older
members to the enjoyment of
others present.
An election of officers was held.
Mrs. Frank Cronk was chosen
noble grand; Mrs. Roy Hansen,
vice grand; Mrs. Glen Stewart,
secretary, and Mrs. R. V. Crum
ly, treasurer. The other officers
are appointive. The officers will
be seated in January.

CLEARWATER Mrs. Walter
Wojeniwchowski, 40. whose par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson R.
Thompson, live at Clearwater,
was killed Thursday, November
20, in a two-car collision at the
junction of U.S. highways 20-281 [
near Osmond. Mrs. Wojeniwchow
ski and her husband, 42, were cn
route to Clearwater. Her husband
was hospitalized. Funeral services
for the woman were held Sunday,
November 2.3, at Fremont.

LYNCH Funeral services were
held Friday, November 28, at Ran
dolph for Ernest Swanson, 73, who
died Monday, November 24, in Sa
cred Heart hospital here. Surviv
ors include: Daughter Mrs. Au
drey Birmeier of Lynch, seven
grandchildren, two brothers and
three sisters.

PLAINVIEW W. L. Mote, 89,
who was in the early day bank
ing business here for many years
and later served as Hitchcock
county judge, died Thursday, No
vember 20. at Omaha. Survivors
include: Daughter Mrs. Wade
Martin of Omaha, wife of an
Omaha banker.
Miss Sharon Hilderhoff of Sen
eca was a guest at the home of
her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
John D. Osenbaugh, from Thanks
giving until Sunday.

C&NW Asks Douglas
Decision Be Upheld
The Chicago & North Western
railroad told the state supreme
court Friday it was fully justified
in withdrawing trains lit and 14
July 7 from the Omaha-Chadron
run
In a brief filed with the high
court, the railroad said the 1Vnig
hts county district court decision
holding that the railway possessed
authority to remove the trains
should he upheld.
The brief was filed in answer to
an appeal by Save-the-Trains as
sociation from the district court
ruling.
