Mrs. Dorothy Vaughn returned to Omaha Saturday after visiting with her mother, Mrs Grace Briggs, since Wednesday, Novem ber 26. Mrs. E. Skits, dialogues and readings made up the hour long program by the eight children en rolled. Barbecued sandwiches, coffee, pop and popcorn halls were sold. Including money from the pie social held at Hallowe’en, the youngsters have enough money to purchase a record player which they have wanted for sometime Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson I and son of San Diego, Calif., went to Omaha Wednesday, November 26, after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schrad. After visiting at the Syl vester Shrad home in Omaha, they left for California Friday by train. Enroute to Nebraska, their car was completely demolished in a two-car wreck near Laramie, Wyo., where they ran into icy roads. Mr. Peterson received a cut on the face requiring several stitches. Mrs Peterson received a sprained ankle and bruises while their little son escaped injury. Miss Jennie Weed of Sterling, Kans., spent the holiday weekend with her sister and husband, Dr and Mrs. William H. Ross. She came to Ewing with Russell Na pier and Larry Larson, both stu dents at Sterling college. The stu dents came home for Thanksgiv ing vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schueth left Wednesday, November 26, to go to Humphrey to spend the win ter months with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schueth. Visitors Here— Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Regan and three children of Omaha spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Thom as Green. Mr. Regan is a nephew of the Greens. Stevenson of Lincoln announce the engage ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Elaine (above), to Jerome Koenig of Ewing. The couple will be mar ried December 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Lincoln. Mr. Koenig is a teacher and coach at Bonnet. (CST), in Valentine will be a discussion of tbe high school North South Shrine bowl football game to to be held in late August, 1959, in Omaha. All high school coaches in the state, whether they play 11-, eight or six-man foothall, have been in vited to make four nominations from the present senior class and a meeting wall be held December 14 to select the players, according to Shrine Bowl of Nebraska, Inc., composed of the officers of Ihree Nebraska Shrine Temples, Sesos tris of Lincoln, Tangier of Omaha, and Tehama of Hastings. The first annual howl game is planned for the purpose of hene fitting the Twin Cities unit of the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, the hospital which serv es the Nebraska area. All proceeds of the game will got to the unit. “Skip” Palrang of Boys Town will be the head coach of the South team and Jerry I^ee of Grand Island will be the North team’s head coach. Sunday’s ladies' night meeting of the Sand Hills Shrine club will be held at the Masonic temple in Valentine. Competes in State Music Clinic— CHAMBERS Miss Carolyn Har ley and Jane Kay Price, seniors in Wheeler count high school were selected to attend the state music clinic at Grand Island, November 20-21. Miss Carolyn played her clarinet in the band and Miss Jane Kay participated in the chorus division. About 1,500 students from 150 high schools participated in this clinic. Carolyn also attended this same clinic at Lincoln last year. Gary Linder, music instructor at WCHS, accompanied the girls to Grand Island for the event.
