George Fullerton met his wife, Dorothy, at Grand Island Wednes day night, November 19. She was returning home from a visit with relatives in California. Mrs. Stella Sparks and Mrs. Blake Ott attended the Merry Mat rons club Thursday at the home of Mrs. Fred Kanzelmeyer in At kinson. Mrs. Floyd Adams received word recently that her niece. Miss Beverly Kiltz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Kiltz of Arling ton, Va., left Saturday, November 22. by boat for Italy where she will be employed for two years by the army engineers as a sec retary. Beverly's mother is the former Opal Ott. Mrs Elmer Coolidge attended club at Grimes in Chambers Fri day and presented the lesson on making wood fibre flowers. B. W. Waldo and Lloyd sawed wood Friday for John Zinkon. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Briggs of Rose recently purchased a new car and they took Mrs. Briggs' mother. Mrs. Maude Forbes, to Wichita, Kans., to visit over the weekend. They returned home Sunday evening and stopped a short time at the Hienie Frahm home near Amelia. Mrs. Vern Sageser attended a business meeting of the Garden club Friday at Stuart. Blake Ott and Ralph Rees were Friday O’Neill callers. Beautiful Words Are Told— CHAMBERS- Kellar club met Wednesday, November 19, with Mrs. Ray Hoffman, Mrs. E. A. Fanner being co-hostess. Eight memliers and four guests were present, each answering roll call by naming the word she consid ered the most beautiful. Mrs. Hoffamn won the door prize. The program consisted of a reading by Mrs. T E. Alderson, one by Mrs. G. H. Grimes, and a turkey conundrum quiz conducted by Mrs. Clyde Kiltz. It was an nounced that the next meeting will lie with Mrs. G. H. Grimes, with Mrs. Louis Neilson co-hostess The date is set for December 3 with an election of. officers sched uled. Members are urged to bring their year books so the 1959 dates may be recorded. Lunch was served by the host esses. Expected Hume — Mrs. Lois Murdy of Lincoln and her brother, Robert Holsclaw. a student at the University of Ne braska, were expected Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving with their parents, Mr and Mrs. Fred Hols claw. Driving in town to pick up that Thanksgiving bird and overhead and all along the streets are huge red Christmas bells and strings of pretty lights, just clamoring to be turned on. Mrs. Floyd Johnson and Linda and Mr. and Mrs. John Pinnt of Chadron were Friday supper guests of the Gordon Johnson family in O'Neill. The Pinnts. who had been visiting their daughter and family a few' days left Satur day morning for a business trip into South Dakota driving on home by evening. Three New Members j Are Welcomed— The second meeting of the Young Married Group of young men and women will be held Mon day evening, December 1. The program will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the assembly Boom of the court house annex in O'Neill. The program will be under the direction of the officers of the group, Mr. and Mrs. George Mel lor, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Coburn, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Vogel and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Summerer. Anyone interested in the activ ities of this newly organized YMVV group can obtain information through the county agent’s office. To Speak Here Miss Aleta Joan Matthews (above), who is associated with the mission work of the United Presbyterian in Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, will speak at the First Presbyterian church in O'Neill Tuesday, December 2, at 7:30 p. m. In type of work that Miss Matthews has been doing with the women in the city of Khar toum North, religious and social customs prohibit the women of that land from attending public meetings. The women's work program includes literacy clas ses, optional sewing classes, and Bible study courses. This work is done in the Christian teaching school and Gereif night school. Miss Matthews was born in Chi cago. 111. She is a graduate of Sterling college, Sterling, Kans., and has studied at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, and Biblical Seminary in New York. Creighton Alumni, Former Students Will Dine Here Julius D. Cionin of O'Neill and 1 Thomas Slattery of Atkinson are in charge of arrangements for an organizational meeting of the Creighton University Alumni club for the O'Neill area. The dinner event will be held at the Town House in O'Neill, Mon day, December 8, at 7 p.m. Among Creighton representatives scheduled to attend are the Very Rev. Carl M. Reinert, S. J.. the university’s president, and Ber nard J. Conway, director of alum ni relations. The dinner and meeting will lie open 1o graduates and former stu dents of Creighton, their wives, dates and escorts. Marie Niewohner, Leonard Nav Wed Mrs. Marie Niewohner of O'Neill and Leonard Nay of Elgin, were united in marriage Saturday at November 15. at 7:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Catholic church in Elgin. Rev. T. II. Buelt officiated. The bride appeared in a navy blue suit with which she wore white accessories. She carried a bridal bouquet. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. John Meis. brother and sister-in-law of the bride. Donald Meis was ring-bearer. Following the ceremony break fast was served to the bridal par ty and immediate family at the Red Rooster cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Nay spent the weekend in Omaha. Mrs. Myrta Fox of Miller is vis iting her son and family, Mr .and Mrs. Charles Fox, this week. She had been visiting another son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fox of Atkinson. They drove her to O'Neill Sunday afternoon. O’NEILL LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Herberg of Ruthton, Minn., arrived last Thursday to spend Thanksgiving with their son-in-law and daugh ter. Mr. and Mrs. Dale G. Herberg. Dr. Robert Wallace, who has been visiting his mother, Mrs. M. J. Wallace, plans to leave Satur day for Wichita, Kans., where he will specialize at St. Francis hos pital. Band Boosters Organize, Lynch LYNCH The Lynch high school booster's hand club was organ ized at a special meeting Thurs day. The first project for the band mem tiers is a fund raising project in which all memlx>rs plan to hire out" to farmers to assist to pick up corn blown down in the fields in order to raise money to pay for new hand uniforms.
