Funeral at Butte
BUTTE- Mrs. Max L. (Verna >
Honke died Sunday at Wagner, S
D. She was the wife of a former
Butte banker, the late Max L,
Honke,
Rosary was said at 8 p.m. Tues
day at the funeral home in Butte
A requiem mass was said at 9:30
a m Wednesday at St. Peter and
Paul's Catholic church. Rev. Gill
pastor, officiated. Burial was in
the Catholic cemetery in Butte.
She is survived by two daugh
ters, two sons and a stepson Also
a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mildred
Honke, and a niece, Mrs, John R.
Gallagher, both of O'Neill.
Mrs. Honke and Mr. and Mrs
Gallagher and family attended
the rosary. Mrs. Honke stayed
over to attend the funeral.

Band Mothers
Wednesday evening, October 15
the O’Neill Band Mothers held an
election and meeting in the band
room at the public school Mrs.
Roy J. Shelhamer. the outgoing
president, conducted the meeting
She outlined the past year’s activ
ities including the purchasing of
new uniforms and the selling of
the old uniforms. She thanked ev
eryone for their cooperation.
Duane Miller, band director
gave a talk on the policies of the
band. He also told of a student
committee appointed to help en
; force the policies.
Officers elected were: Mrs Rob
ert Kurtz, president; Mrs. Leo
Gokie. vice-president; Mrs. Joe
Tennis, secretary, and Mrs. Floyd
Wilson, treasurer.
Mrs. Shelhamer turned the
meeting over to Mrs. Kurtz, who
asked for a vote of thanks to last
year’s officers, (“specially the out
going president. All other officers
move up to the next office.
Coffee and cookies were served
by Mrs. M B. Marcellus, Mrs
Bennett Gillespie and Mrs. Leona
Shoemaker.

narik home were Mr. and Mrs
Joe Sturbaum.
Herman Schroeder and daugh
ter, Gioria. and Mr. and Mrs.
Dwight Schroeder and children
were guests Sunday at the home
of Mr and Mrs. Bernard Schroe
der and family at Neligh. In the
afternoon they went to Norfolk to
visit with Mrs. Schro*xier, who is
hospitalized there.

Lynch and Jim Clinch of Creigh
ton.
Mrs. Eva Kaczor, who has spent
the past two weeks in Omaha with
relatives and friends, returned
home Saturday evening, accom
panied by her son and wife, Mr
and Mrs. Tony Kaczor and fam
ily.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sojka, sr.,
has spent some time in the east
ern states, returned home Satur
day,
Mr. and Mrs. Will Conner, Mrs
Ella Zeims and Mrs. C. C. Hahl
beck went to Clearwater to at
tend the funeral of Fred Steams
held Monday afternoon at the
Church of Christ. Mr. Stems was
a brother-in-law of Mrs. Conner.
Mrs. Ella Zeim, who was ac
companied by her sister, Mrs
Ralph Van Horn of O'Neill, spent
a few days at Grand Island last
week. Mrs. Zeims is now at her
home in Ewing.
Sunday afternoon and supper
guests at the Waldo Davis home
were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wittier
and daughter of Tilden, Mr and
Mrs. Donald Spahn and family
and Betty Wright, all of Ewing.
Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis en
tertained her mother. Mrs. Louise
Beal, and Mr. and Mrs. Homer
Barton and family of Ore haul, at
dinner Monday evening.
Mrs. Helen Sisson received
woul this week of the promotion
of her son. Jack, to corporal. He
is stationed at Camp Pendleton,
Calif.
