A committee from the Riverside Free Methodist church met with two momliers of each of the other churches in Ewing Monday after mxm to plan the program and time for reception for teachers in the Ewing school. The Free Methodist church is chairman of die church group this year. On Tuesday morning Mr. and Mrs. Dale Napier and the Wayne Fry family were guests to a steak dinner at the Richard Napier home in honor of Richard's birth day anniversary. District VFW, Aux Convention Held Veterans of Foreign Wars and auxiliary members of Nebraska's district 11 held a fall meeting here Sunday. The VFW met at the national guard armory while the auxilary convened at the Odd Fellows hall. Dinner was served at the hall. Mrs. Josephine Sims of Ains worth is the VFW' auxiliary dis trict president and George Mor lang of O'Neill is the district VFW commander. Towns represented were Valen tine, Ainsworth and Bassett. Ever ett Shelhoume, who is the assis tant state quartermaster attended the VFW meeting. This was one of the regular dis trict meetings. On their way home they visited at the home of Mrs. White's cousin. Frank Harnett, at Bogard, Mo. This was the boy hood home of Mrs. White's fath er, S. C. Barnett of Amelia. He livei’ on that place from three years-old until coming to Nebras ka at the age of 21. Mrs. White brought him a bu shel of pears picked from a tree his mother had planted there. The tree is about 60-years-old.
