Plans October Rite Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holsciaw of O'Neill announce the engage ment of their daughter, Miss Janice Joy, (above) to John Lee Farrier of Chambers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Farrier of Chambers. An October wedding is planned. ' I Deloit Pinochle Club in Session DELOIT The Deloit Pinochle club met Thursday. Guests were Mrs. Bill Gibbs, Mrs. Keith Bartak, Mrs. Bill Sohi [ and Mrs. Evelyn Thompson of Omaha, who is visiting at the Carl Thiele home in Neligh. High prize went to Mrs. Frank Miller; low to Mrs. Charles Mc Donald. Guest high went to Mrs Bill Gibbs and low to Mrs. Thomp son, Mrs. Louis Pofahl received traveling prize. Next meeting will be with Mrs Charles McDonald. Other Deloit News Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gibbs and friends of Norfolk attended the state fair at Lincoln Sunday, August 31. Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Bartak visited relatives at Stanton and Howells Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson, Winifred and Neil of Neligh visited Monday, September 1, at the Fred Harps ter home. Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Spahn, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schlinder spent from Thursday until Sunday eve ning in the Black Hills. Mrs. Otto Reimer of Lincoln, Mrs. Echo Fisher of St. Edward and Mary Graham of Albion visited over the la tor day weekend at the E. L. Sisson home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rexine were Sunday dinner guests at the j Sisson home. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bartak were supper guests Thursday eve ning at the Bob Bartak family. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Pofahl and : baby are moving to the Wagner place northeast of Ewing. Among dinner guests at the Keith Bartak home Thursday were Mrs. Vonie Paul, Larry and Nancy of Elgin, and Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Bartak. Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Spahn at- | tended a wedding reception Wed nesday evening, September 3, in Norfolk for Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gokie, jr., who were married re- j cently in Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gokie of Nor folk. Deloit received a nice rain Fri day afternoon -about a half-inch. The new dial telephone system is almost a reality in Bartlett and | vicinity. Elayne Reimer, who teaches in Plainview, spent the weekend at home. * Mrs. Otto Reimer, Echo Fish er and Mary Graham called at | the Fred Harpster home Monday, Septemtor 1. Mr and Mrs. Don Beekenhauer of Neligh have purchased an air plane fqr use in their church work. Don is known in this com munity. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Manson. Sidney Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Briggs arrived home this week from Cass I^ake, Minn , where they had spent two weeks at a fishing resort. Lynch Farmer with Injured Eye Aided by Good Neighbor* LYNCH Thirty men gathered at the Edward Streit home Tues day morning. September 2, with all necessary machinery to put up Edward's hay. They had finish ed at noon and the women served dinner, The men then went to the Emil Micanek farm and put up Emil's hay. Edward had surgery on his eye at Yankton, S.D., last week having suffered an injury in an accident when a rivet hit his eye cutting the eye ball severly. Hopes are held his sight will be saved but as yet nothing definite is known. Other Lynch News Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tarr and family were Lincoln visitors last week. A housewarming party was held at the Robert Courtney home Sun day, August 31. Mr. and Mrs. Don Allen and children spent the last weekend camping at Ft. Randall. Mrs. Orville Gallop and children returned home from Alaska so the children could start school Orville will remain there working for some time Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fuhrer of Newport visited the parental C. A. Moody home last weekend. Mr. and Mrs Lewie Christen sen and Jerry and Mr. and Mrs Elmer Christensen returned home from Phoenix. Ariz., where they had visited with the Ted Christen sen family. Mr. and Mrs. George Courtney, ir., moved into the Charlie Mul hair residence during the past week. Mrs. N'ata Bjomsen returned home from O’Neill Tuesday, Sep tember 2, after a several dajm visit at the Alvin Carson home in O’Neill Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fisher visited relatives in Winner, S.D., the August 30-31 weekend. Myrl Merchant is in Scotts bluff where she has employment. Mr, and Mrs. Charley Gatz of Niobrara visited relatives here Sunday, August 31. Visitors at the Howard Ander- ; son home the past week were Mrs. j Leonard Anderson of Bristow, Mr. ' and Mrs. Arnold Anderson of Michigan and the Delwyn Ander- j son family from Chicago, 111. The Arthur Ennen family clos ed their Philips 66 gas station and moved to O'Neill.' Leland Moody is attending a telephonic school in Chicago, 111 Mrs. Lumir CSzek and Ronnie of Spencer came after Mrs John Kossmeier Wednesday, September 3. Mrs Kossmeier will spend some time at the Cizek home before re turning to the Leland Moody home again. Emil Peklo of Omaha visited relatives here Thursday. Marilyn Graham is attending college in Norfolk this term. Beverly Alford is attending the University of Omaha this term. Mr. and Mrs. Don Allen and family attended the state fair the past week. The Wesleyan Methodist con gregation held a picnic dinner at the park Tuesday, September 2, honoring the Rev. Paul Meyers family who left for a new pastorate and Rev. W Lloyd and family who is the new pastor at the Lynch Wesleyan church. Louis Klasna of Spencer was a Lynch visitor Friday. Mrs. Vera Allen returned home recently from the Robert Mer chant home in Kimball where she had visited several days. Mr. and Mrs Albert Lee Kruse of Lincoln called at the Robert Courtney home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fisher were business visitors in Butte Saturday. Mr and Mrs Wilmer Crawford and family attend a family re union at Gavin's Point dam last Sunday Mrs. Inger Levi is spending the past week at the Ed Cassidy home near Ft. Randall. Patti Anderson visited at the Lawrence Johnson home at Win ner. SJD., last week. The BVM Altar society met at the rectory Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Hannah Streit. Mrs. Vac Jedlieka and Mrs. Stasia -Court ney hostesses. Mrs. Charles Court ney, vice president, presided at the meeting.
