Organist Leibert, Montes Group Signed Membership Drive for Concerts Soon Richard Leibert, famed con cert organist of the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and Lola Montes and her Span ish dancers have been hooked for the 1958-’59 O’Neill Community Concert series. The new series will be "built around’’ these two attractions, | said William Miller, president of the concert association here. "'The Community Concert or ganized audience plan brings the best of entertainment for all ages," Miller declared. "This high type concert talent in years past has been available only to metro politan areas. Many should be in terested in this worthwhile pro ject,” Miller added, uring adults [ and students to sign up. The annual membership drive j in behalf of the association will j begin Sunday, September 7. President William Miller has appointed Mrs. John C. Watson as city membership chairman and Mrs. Harold Lindberg will be out-of-town membership chair man. Membership captains in O’ Neill: Mrs. K. L. Selects October 4 Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Thorin of O'Neill have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Miss Lavone (above) to Vern on Schleusener, son of Mr. and Mrs Herman Schleusener of Orchard. The bride-elect is a graduate of O’NeiU high school, class of 1954. She has been em ployed at the Bank of Orchard for' the past three years. An October 4 wedding is planned at Orchard. Youthful Golfer Dethrones Golden Bob Carroll, 23, former O’Neill high athlete, Sunday ousted Max Golden as champion of the ' Country club’s citywide golf tourney an annual event. Golden owned a one-stroke ad vantage at the end of nine holes in the title match in the cham pionship flight. On number 10 the count was evened. Carroll was out-of-bounds once but fin ished the last nine holes in three j under par, which was good enough to nick Golden. Earlier this season Golden was successful in defending the O’- j Neill open tourney golf crown. Johnson Clan in Sunday Reunion ATKINSON — Descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Marion Johnson, sr., pioneer couple who came to Nebraska From Peoria, 111., in the 1880’s, reunited Sunday, August 24, at the Knights of Columbus hall in Atkinson. Present were 51 rela tives and one visitor. Those attending from O’Neill were: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd R. Johnson and Linda Anne, Mr. and Mrs. John Schulte, Gwenda and Debra, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Marion Johnson, jr., and Dar lene, Mrs. Gordon Johnson and Russell, Mrs. Virgil Johnson and Richard Terry and Cindy Brown. From Michigan: Mr. and Mrs. Alton Micks and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Yeiter and two children. From Atkinson: Mrs. Dell Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bonenberger, Jean and Joan, Mrs. Ethel Brown, Mr, and Mrs. Arleh Brown, Melodee and Rick len Dell. Mrs. Doll Johnson was the old est member present and Ricklen Dell Brown was the youngest. There was one death in the fam ily during the past year: Mrs. Joanie Palmer, who died Febru ary 24. There were no births recorded since the last reunion held in August, 1957. Terry and Cindy Brown of O - Neill spent the weekend at the Ethel and Arlen Brown home in Atkinson while their parents at tended a rodeo at Ft. Pierre, S. D. They also attended the re union and picnic. New Manager Sought for Youth Center The O’Neill youth center board of directors met Friday, August 22, with President Rynold A. Cim fel presiding. Plans were made for the com ing school year. The board decid ed the center needs a manager, needs to lie cleaned, and is in need of a new high fidelity record player.
