The 34th annual convention of
the Omaha Archdiocesan Coun
cil of Catholic Women will be held
in Omaha at Holy Name field
house, 2901 Fontanelle blvd., Tues
day, September 9.
The opening session is schedu
led for 9 a.m Holy mass will be
offered at 11 a.m. with Most Rev.
Gerald T. Bergan as celebrant.
“Woman, Behold Thy Mother”
is the theme of the convention and
an interesting program has been
planned. Rev. Michael Dineen
of National Catholic Rural confer
ence and Miss Anne Laughlin of
Regis college, Denver, Colo., will
be guests speakers.
The convention will close with a
tea served by the Deanery council
of Omaha at St. Vincent’s home
for the aged. Mrs. Robert Cole of
Emmet, will be a convention hos
tess; Mrs. Ira H. Moss of O'Neill
is on the nominating committee;
Mrs. A. A. Kalkowski of Lynch will
serve as teller; and Mrs. L. Knapp
of Ewing will be auditor.

Clayton Thomson, were married
Friday. August 8, at the Assump
tion BVM church. Rev. Charles
Kamber officiated.
The bride, ushered hy her fa
ther, wore a gown of nylon net and
tulle over taffeta. A stand-away
collar accented the throat line, with
long sleeves tapering to bridal
jxiints. A small headpiece sprink
led with pearls held her fingertip
veil in place. She carried a bou
quet of American Beauty roses
with white satin streamers.
Mrs. Robert Courtney, maid-of
honor, wore a dress made of pink
taffeta with a matching head
piece, and carried a bouquet of
white mums. Reta Purviance, sis
ter of the bride, was flowergirl.
She wore a dress of blue taffeta
with matching headpiece.
The bridegroom was attired in
a charcoal gray suit with match
ing accessories. His attendant,
Robert Courtney, wore a light
grey suit. Each wore a white car
nation boutonniere. Tommy Thom
son, nephew of the bridegroom,
was the ringbearer and wore a
suit of dark trousers with a white
jacket.
The bride’s mother wore a navy
dress with white accessories. The
bridegroom’s mother wore a
black dress with white accessor
ies, each wore a corsage of white
carnations.
A reception was held in the
American Legion hall with the
immediate members of both fam
ilies present.
Mrs. Thomson was a graduate
of Lynch high school in 1957. She
attended Wayne Teachers5 college
and taught school.
The bridegroom graduated from
Lynch high school. He served in
in the armed forces. He is pres
ently employed by REA.
After a wedding trip to Denver
Colo., an dthe West coast, the
couple will live at Lynch.

Harry Spall of O’Neill Tuesday
urged motorists in the O’Neill
area to be help guard against
accidental slaying of pheasants
and grouse by automobiles.
He said the incidence of dead
birds found along the roadside is
indicative of the high fatality rate
for the protected birds.
‘‘Please slow down when you
see a pair or covey,” Spall urged
Last week he said he counted 40
dead birds along the roadside in
Holt county travels.
