olic church was the scene Satur
day morning, August 9, of the
wedding of Miss Leona Pettinger,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raphael
Pettinger. and Berton Hartz, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hartz, sr.,
of Boise Ida.
Rev. Robert Morocco officiated
at the nuptial mass and double
ring ceremony at 10 o'clock. Serv
ers were brother and cousins of
the bride. Music was played by
Sharon Moeller. Friends of the
couple sang the mass hymns.
"On This Day" was sung as the
bride placed a bouquet at the feet
of the Blessed Mother.
The bride was given in marri
age by her father. She wore a
gown of Sehiffle embroidered ny
lon tulle over duchess satin. The
fitted buttoned-at-the-back bodice,
cut to a point at the waist, featur
ed an illusion neckline topped with
a Queen Anne collar. Long sleeves
were pointed at the wrists.
The very Ixniffant skirt worn
over hfx>p skirts and layers of
net featured a redingate styled
skirt in the front over perman
ent pleated nylon tulle. She wore
pearls and matching earrings.
The bride's fingertip veil fell from
a crown of lace and pearls. She
carried a bouquet of pink carna
tions with a white rosary.
The maid-of-honor, Miss Rita
Hoehne of O'Neill, and the brides
maids, Miss Darlene Tasler and
Mrs. Gene Ziska, wore matching
gowns of ballerina length in the
bride's colors. The gowns featur
ed scooped necklines, sleeveless
bodices with cummerbunds and
matching headpieces. Their acces
' series were matching jewelry,
i gifts from the bride.
They carried a Ixiuquet of
i daisies. Delores Pettinger, sister
' of the bride, was flowergirl. She
appeared in a white nylon dress
with a flowered headpiece and
carried a basket of rose pedals.
Ricky Joplin, cousin of the bride,
was ringbeurer.
Clayton Hartz, jr., served his
brother as best man. Groomsmen
were Donald and Robert Pettin
ger.
Ushers were Leonard Troshyn
ski of Omaha and Duane Pongratz
of Emmet. The bridegnx>m and
his attendants wore dark business
suits with white carnation bout
onnieres.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Pettinger chose a blue dress
with white accessories and a
pink carnation corsage. The
| bridegroom’s mother wore a lacy
] biege dress with blue accessories
and also wore a pink carnation
corsage.
Dinner for the wedding party
and relatives was prepared and
served at the Knights of Colum
bus hall in Atkinson at noon by
friends of the families. Rev. R. J. i
Parr and Father Morocco were
guests.
A reception was held from 2
until 3:30 for about one hundred
guests. Miss Marilyn Wallinger
was in charge of the guest book.
Margie and Carol Ries and
Claudcen Raymer served at the
refreshment table. Edith Pokomy
poured and Mrs A. J. O’Donnell,
aunt of the bride, cut and served
the wedding cake. Mrs. Fred
White, jr., Dolly and Gloria White
assisted with the gifts.
