Inman News Mrs James E Kelley and son. Neal, of Madison were weekend guests here in the W. E. and W. C Kelley homes. Postmaster and Mrs R H. Stevens of Page were Monday evening callers in the home of Mr. and Mrs James M. McMa han Mr. and Mrs. E I Wagers and their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield, of Lodi, Calif . were overnight v isitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs Harry D. Snyder Sunday. Mr and Mrs. J. I. Gray of Page also visited in the Snyder home Sunday even ing. Mr. Gray is a brother of Mrs Wagers and Mrs Snyder. Mr. and Mrs E. I. Wagers, Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield of Lodi, Calif.. Mr. and Mrs John Gray and Mr. and Mrs, Rotiert Gray of Page and Mr and Mrs. Harry D, Snyder were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Date Stevens and Sandra in Atkinson. In the afternoon they all enjoyed pictures of California shown by Mr. Wagers. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rogers of Granite Falls, Wash, arrived here Tuesday afternoon and are visiting in the home of their broth er and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs. E. E. Clark, and family. Arbutus Rebekah lodge met in regular session Wednesday even ing, July 9, at the IOOF hall. Mrs. Elsie Keyes, noble grand, was in charge. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Keyes were hostesses for the evening and the group were in vited to their home where re freshments were served and a social time enjoyed. The WSCS met Thursday at the church annex for their regular meeting. A covered dish luncheon was enjoyed by the group at the close of the afternoon. mr. ana mis. Aiuen Hnunmj, Terry and Gaylene and Dean Gor dons drove to Norfolk on Sunday where they attended a business meeting of General Wholesale Grocery company. W. W. Galloway of Winner, S. D., is the relief agent for the Chica go and North Western railroad, taking the place of T. D. Hutton who is ill. Mr. Galloway spent the weekend in Winner with his family. Bob Harte came Saturday from California to visit his mother, Mrs. Mayme Harte, and his broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. I^eo Harte, and family and other relatives. On Wednesday Bob and Leo Harte drove to Shel don, la., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harte and other relatives. Mrs. W. E. Kelley and daugh ter, Kay, and Mrs. Walter Nelson and son, Jimmy, spent Tuesday in Madison with Mr. and Mrs. James Kelley and Neal and also attended the races. Mrs. Frances May and family were Norfolk visitors on Wednes day, July 9. Mrs. Lyle Pyle and daughter, Barl>ara, took Mr. Pyle as far as Omaha the first of the week where he left for Norfolk, Va. Mr. Pyle is in the navy. Miss Jane Ellen Cronk of San Bernardino, Calif., came Satur day night for a visit with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Gallagher, and her grandmother, Mrs. Charles Cronk of Page, and other relatives. She was met in Columbus by Mrs. Frances May and family. Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Alexander were Norfolk visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young drove to Sioux City on Friday where they attended the funeral of an uncle, Arthur Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Watson and family of Omaha came Thurs dav evening and spent the night m the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Watson, and left Friday morning for Rapid City, S. D., where they will visit in the home of their brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Wat son They were accompanied by their daughter, Betty Jo, who has been visiting here the past several weeks. Mrs. Dean Stuckey and family of Grofton visited several days the past week in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chud omelka. Mrs. Clarence Hansen and Mrs. James McMahon attended a stat ed meeting of the OES in O’Neill Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Couch of Tecumsch came Friday afternoon and spent the weekend here. Pupils Compete in Reading Contest EWING—For the past six weeks the youth of the United Presbyterian church have had a Bible reading contest. The finals were held Sunday evening with the following results: In the junior group there were five entries. Winners were Sher ry Switzer, first; Joan Miller, second. In the intermediates, Sharon Johnston received first. In the senior youth group or two entries, Sandra Shrader re ceived first. First prize was two dollars and second pride was one Judges of the contest were Rev. and Mrs. Claude Copely of the Neligh Methodist church and Mrs. Ruth Wagoner, also of Nel igh. Miss Donzel Peterson of Sea ttle, Wash., was a guest of the Albert Widfeldt family the past week, having come by plane from Seattle, Wash., to Minneapolis, Minn., where she was met by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Kehn of Butte. They brought her to the Widtfeldt home Wed nesday, July 9. Mrs. Floyd Johnson and Mrs. Gordon Johnson made a business trip to Sioux City last Wednesday, July 9 On the way home they called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood, who live near Plainview. Mrs. Taylor and husband recent ly purchased the Jim Early farm, which borders the Johnson ranch on the south. Rita Vequist spent last Thurs dav at the Albert Widfeldt home. Appreciation Gift to Mrs. Lloyd Gleed CHAMBERS—Winona Rebekah lodge met in regular session Fri day evening, July 11, with 29 members present. During the meeting Mrs. Lloyd Gleed was presented a gift from the lodge in appreciation of her untiring efforts in preparing a memorial book. After the business meeting an open session was held with 14 near relatives of deceased mem bers as guests. At this time the memorial Ixtok was dedicated with a fitting and appropriate ceremony. Following the dedica tion, memorial service for 12 de ceased members was presented. As each name was read a lighted candle was placed in the I candelabras in honor of those who have passed away. Robertson, who were early settlers in the Joy community, north of O'Neil], gath ered here Sunday for a family re union. It is expected a reunion will be held each year in the future. Children in the family were: Lottie. Elsie, George. Helen, Har riett, John. Sam. Ray, Rachel. Rebecca, James and Dick. Mrs. Fred < Lottie> Weidman of Plainview died in 1942 and Dick of O'Neil] died about eight years ago. Originally the reunion w a s scheduled for Sam's farm north of O'Neill, but plans were changed because of Sam's recent heart attack. The clan gathered at George's residence in O'Neill for break fast Dinner at noon was served at an O'Neill restaurant. The afternoon and evening were spent at Sam’s farm home. Present were: George C., his wife of O'Neill and their son. George T., his wife and daughters, Barbara, Joan and Betty of Benkelman. The Cote, Ewing and Ander son families were Saturday din ner guests of the George Robert sons. The Reverend Sundell was mas ter-of-ceremonies and it was voted to make the reunion an annual affair. Mrs. Cote and children remain ed in Nebraska for a longer visit. The Cotes had flown here from California. John, another son of the pio neer couple, w as unable to be pre sent. He lives at San Jose, Calif. Will Locate Soon in Iran— Mrs. Guy Caghill of Casper, Wyo., arrived in O’Neill Friday, July 4, after visiting with her daughter, the former Marilyn Duffy, and her husband, who are attending the University of Ne braska. Mr. and Mrs. Sepahpur are both engineering students. Upon completion of their studies they will live in Iran. Mrs. Coghill visited relatives in O’Neill the past week and re turned to her home in Casper Sat urday, accompanied by her neice, Kay McCarthy.
