Promenading in Times Square, New York City, are these three
young people from western United States: Miss Marie McKinzie of
Washburn, N. D., Miss Alice Young of O'Neill, and Donald Schwartz
of Jamestown, N, D. They and other young people are headed over
seas to live and work for several months with farm families in var
ious European countries. Miss Young and her friends were break
fast guests of Chas. Pfizer & Co., Inc., at a Times Square restaur
ant during their stop over. Miss Young is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Young. She will go to Belgium.

EWTNG Mrs. Irwin Cloyd re
turned home Monday, June 22,
from Plainview where she spent
the week with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. George Timmerman.
Mrs. Timmerman, who was re
cently injured in a fall, was able
to come home from the hospital.
. Mr, and Mrs. Alfred Doud
went to Norfolk Monday, June
22, whgre Mrs. Doud had a phys
ical checkup. . . Mrs. Doris Sand
ers came home Wednesday from a
Omaha hospital where she receiv
ed treatment for an ulcer. . Mr.
and Mrs. L. A. Hobbs took Peter
Roudybush to Omaha on Sunday
where he entered St Joseph’s hos
pital for treatment. Members of
the r^»c Spittler family are
spending much of their time with
him, at an Omaha hospital.
OtNEILL- The Don Walton chil
dren had measles . . Mrs. Eliza
beth Schaffer of Lincoln, who vvas
visiting relatives here including
her son, D. C. Schaffer, and daugh
ter Mrs Ed Eisenhauer of Cham
bers submitted to an emergency
operation at 4:30 a m. Tuesday at
St Anthony’s hospital. Her son,
Irving of Tekamah. is here and
his two sisters, who were visit
ing in California, arrived in
Grand, Island Wednesday. - .
John Sullivan, who had a cata
ract removed recently in Omaha
will go back Sunday to have the
stitches removed.
INMAN Lewis Kopecky return
ed to Antelope Memorial hospital
in Neligh Saturday, June 21,
where he spent a week as a med
ical patient. On Sunday, June 29,
he was taken to Omaha by Wil
liam Hobbs of Ewing and enter
ed St. Joseph’s hospital where he
expects to undergo surgery later
this week. Mrs. Kopecky was
able to return home from Ante
lope Memorial hospital Tuesday,
June 24, and is convalescing at
her home. Miss Georgia Marie
Herald is helping with her care.
DELOIT Mrs. Leo Lydon was
a patient at the O’Neill hospital
last week. . . Johnny Tagel. 12,
- had the misfortune to have a
stick puncture his eye. He was
taken to the Neligh hospital and
later removed to a hospital ir
Omaha. . . Roy Beeson fell from
a haystack and injured his back
He is being hospitalized at Til
den Mr. and Mrs. Howard Man
son called on him Sunday. He is
making satisfactory recovery.

To Wed in Germany
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bollwitt
of Ewing are announcing the en
gagement and approaching mar
riage of their daughter, Miss
Darlene (above), to Army Pfc.
John F Wederski, who is sta
tioned at Munich, Germany.
Miss Bollwitt will be leaving
July 18 for Munich and the cou
ple will wed upon arrival there.
It is planned that Father Cow
hig, chaplain for a paratrooper
unit, will perform the rites. Miss
Bollwitt .was graduated from
Ewing high school in 1952 and
recently completed a nine-weeks
business college course at Lin
coln. Miss Bollwitt will make the
' trip to Europe by air.
