M iss Barnett Engaged Mr and Mrs. I,awrence Bar nett of Greeley, Colo., announce the engagement and forthcom ing marriage of their daughter. Miss Ardath (above), to Ron ald Herbel, son of Mrs. Evelyn Herbel of Brighton. Colo., and the late Samuel lierbel. Miss Barnett is a 1957 graduate of Greeley high school and has attended Colorado State college the past year. She at present is employed in the secretarial office on the CSC campus. Mr. Herbel Is a 1956 graduate of Brighton high school and has completed his sophomore year at CSC. He pitches! for the CSC Bear baseball team two seasons. He is now in California where he is under contract to the San Francisco Giants. He is a mem lam of Tau Kappa Epsilon fra ternity. A fall wedding is plan ned. Miss Barnett is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Alderson of Chambers and Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Barnett of Amelia The I^iwrcnce Barnetts resided in the Amelia commu nity until several years ago. O’Neill News Guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Woidneek were Mr. and Mrs. Bernio Bowers of Winside, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bowers of Norfolk and Rosa Bowers. Mr. and Mrs Leonard Davis attended a family picnic in Ash Grove Sunday. Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davis and family of Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sparks of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Bridge of Royal, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Smith of Valentine. Guests over the weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Gale Dierberger and boys were his father, George Dierberger and grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Gleisberg, ixjth of Seward and Mrs. Robert Rank of Crete. Mr. and Mrs. II. Moses spent Wednesday, June 25, in Wayne and Winside. Mr. and Mr. H. S. Moses spent Saturday and Sunday in Lincoln visiting their son, Richard Moses and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Cloyd and Tommy of Sidney are visiting at the John Do nohoe home. Mrs. William Edwards and chil dren spent the week of June 20 26 visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don McPherson, leaving Al lison there to spend this week. They also visited D. L. Edwards of Norfolk. Francis Flood returned Satur day to New York City after vis iting two weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Flood and with other relatives. Miss Lou Ann Fritton of Lin coln spent the weekend with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Fritton. Mrs. Francis May and children returned Sunday from 10-day trip to western Nebraska and Colo rado. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Hamik visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gallagher of Inman, Sunday even ing. , _ . John J. Harrington of Chicago, 111., arrived Saturday to spend a week with his family. Gary Gettert, son of Mr. and Mrs Glenn Gettert. is spending the week visiting his grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Liable, at Atkinson. Mrs. J. J. Kinsman of Colum bus was a weekend guest of Mrs. F. J. Dishner and other relatives. Mrs. Frank Hamik of Stuart visited at the home of her son, A1 Hamik, while her husband was a patient at St. Anthony’s. Miss Barbara Nelson of Ains worth is spending two weeks vis iting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Beilin. Mrs. Jerome Trokup of Spen | eer was a Friday overnight guest of Rosa Bowers. Wife of Former Emmet Man Dies Mrs. Mary Katherine O'Don nell, 53, wife of Janies M. O'Don nell. formerly of Emmet, died Saturday night, June 28, in St. 1 Mb, 4 Catherine’s hospital at Omaha. She had been ill four months. Survivors include; Widower; son—James E., 16, and Patrick, 13 mother Mrs. Margaret Walsh, 8d; of Omaha; sisters Mrs. John Me Manaman and Mrs. Patrick Reily, both of Spalding, and Mrs Harry Reese of Greeley; brothers John Walsh of Omaha and Patrick of Cleveland, O. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning. July 1, at Holy Cross Catholic church in Omaha Burial was in Mt. Calvary ceme tery. Among those from this area at tending the funeral were Mr and Mrs. A J. O'Donnell of O'Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Hay Pet tinge r of Emmet, and Edmund O'Donnell and son. Thomas, of I/vs Angeles. Calif., who have been visiting the A J.
