A quartette composed of Irene Brown, Mary Homolka. Elaine Walter and Lome Mellar sang "Graduation Day”. The address was by Warren Cook, mayor of Norfolk! The American Legion auxiliary presented a citizenship award to Darlene Harley. Scholarships were presented by Principal William Witte to Con nie Werner. Darlene Harley and Ardelle E d w a rds. E. C. Wlntermote, president of the board of education, presented di plomas to the 14 seniors and also j the eighth grade graduates. Gleeson Grimes received a I scholarship to the Nebraska state trade and technical school at Mil ford. Due to an oversight the pre sentation was not made at the commencement rites. Chin in Covered Dish Dinner— The Victory Homemakers’ club held a May meeting at the home of Mrs Ray Timmerman with covered dish dinner. Mrs. Ray Tunender gave a lesson on "electricity”. Mrs. John Babl. Mrs. John Schaaf. and Mrs. Joe Ramold jr. received mystery sister gifts. Entertainment was provided by playing cards and exchanging of plants Mrs. Joe Ramold jr. won high prize. Named All-Around Cowboy at ‘ U ’ Ken Backhaus, an O'Neill high graduate and a student at the University of Nebraska college of agriculture, last week was named all-around cowboy at the annual ag college rodeo. The event was held on the ag college campus. Backhaus bested other student contestants by compiling the highest cumulative point total in the various rodeo events. The bride is a daughter of Mr and Mrs B. II Stevens of Page. The bridegroom is a son of Mr Idor Johnson of Rutland, S. D. The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a waltz length gown of white nylon and acetate lace. The moulded bodice featured a square back neckline with a huge bow at the waistline. The full gathered skirt was fash ioned with a pleated nylon net front panel insert edged with lace, over a ruffled net underskirt. Her fingertip veil was held by a juliette hat, daisy trimmed, and site carried a bridal bouquet fashioned in a crescent pattern with pink streamers. Mrs. Dennis La Pave, sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor. Her gown was an oft-the-shoulder model of pastel blue dotted svviss with a fitted bodice and a lull stand-out skirt. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Dennis 1 .a Pave, brother-in-law of ttie bride, served as bestman. The bride is a graduate of the Page high school and the Grand Island Business college and was employed at the Onida bank. The bridegroom received his education at Rutland, S. D., and is employed at the agricultural stabilization office at Onida. The bride chose for her going away costume a beige plaid ging ham dress with green accessories. The award was a $25 savings bond to the outstanding all-around girl of the senior class of O'Neill high school. Miss Joanne Lydon of Mission, S.
