Father Kamber Fntertains Grads LYNCH Rev. Charles Kamlter entertained the Catholic students of Lynch high school senior class and their parents at breakfast Sunday morning, May 18, after high mass. Iris f airyland’ Title of '58 Show ATKINSON The annual iris show will lx? held in Atkinson Saturday, May 31. The show is sponsored by the Atkinson Iris society. Title of this year’s show is “Iris Fairyland”. The Atkinson society entertains visitors from near and far each year in connection with the shows. Drawings and colored pictures by fourth, fifth and sixth grade children will be a feature of the 1!K>8 exhibition. Miss Barbara McCarthy of Om aha and Edward of Lincoln were recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George McCarthy. Edward left for Columbus to work for tiie state. He will be a scales inspector. Mrs. Joe \X inkier Rejoins Her Club EMMETT- The South Side club met recently with Mrs. Leon Price. All members were pres ent hut one and there were four guests. Mrs. Joe Winkler was able to attend after having been absent from four meetings due to dlness. Roll call was answered by "an interesting place I have visited." Mrs. D. C. Schaffer showed , color slides and souveniors sent from Sitka, Alaska, by her daughter. Miss Elizabeth. Mrs. Price served salad, hot rolls and coffee. The salads were arranged to resemble dolls and were attractive. Next meeting will be the an nual tea at the home of Mrs. Georgia McGinnis. They Will vidlt t hn T nnn o nrl Mrs. Henry Benze visited Mrs. Agnes Gaffney Saturday after noon, May 10. ^ The upper grade room of the Emmet school entertained the mothers at a program and lunch on Friday afternoon, May 9. It was also achievement day for the pupils and reading, current ev ent and spelling awards, etc. were given out to them. Every child had made a present for his or her mother. After the moth ers had received their presents and achievemnt awards prsent ed to the pupils, a lunch of cake and coffee with nuts and mints was enjoyed by the ladies. The lunch table was set beautifully with a centerpiece of jonquils, daffodils and grapehyacinth. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Leu from Ewing called at the Cecil Mc Millan home recently. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rich ards and Ronnie attended the va riety show given by the St. Mary’s juniors at the academy Sunday evening, Ma 11. Mrs. Leon Beckwith accom panied Mrs. Orville Hitchcock, Mrs. Charley Tasler and Mrs. Earl Houts to Chambers Tuesday, May, to a district 6 Federated Garden clubs spring conference meeting. Mrs. Robert Martens of Atkinson was elected district 6 director and Mrs. Mabel Newman of Stuart, assistant director. The Tom Alder family of Red bird and Mrs. Grace Alder of Dorsey were at Elmer Akiers Wednesday, May 7. Mr. and Mrs. Don Kellner and Lynn were Sunday, May 11, guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pollock, of Ewing. Miss Judith Liddy, a nursing student at Lincoln, was a week end guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Liddy. Mrs. Calvin Coolidge Feted by Club— The Goldenrod club met Wed nesday, May 14, at Mrs. Herman Janzing's home. Mrs. C. Graves was elected president because Mrs. Charles Nutter, former president, is moving to Lincoln. A pink-and-blue shower was given for Mrs. Calvin Coolidge. Lessons on jiffy breads and care of small electrical appliances were given. Mrs. Cimfel and Mrs. Schfel demonstrated five receipts on jiffy breads which were later served for refresh ments. Six Present for Star C lub Meeting STAR The Star Get-together club met with Mrs. Ewalt Mil j ler Wednesday afternoon, May 14, with six meml)crs present. Roll call was answered with “a useful article in- kitchen”. It was decided to have two contests in the club -one an attendance contest .the other on guessing of secret friends. Plans for a pic nic to be held later were also made. Mrs. William Derickson won the door prize. Mrs. Miller gave the lesson on sandwiches, serving the jumbo pizza sandwich with the after noon lunch. Next meeting will be June 11 at the home of Mrs. Elmer Juracek. I Other Star News The Cedar Corner school term was closed with a picnic Satur day. The Gibson school held its picnic Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Nels Linquist and family plan to spend this week end with the Charles Sorenson family at Minden. Wyn and Larry Johnson spent Sunday night with their grand parents, Mr .and Mrs. Ewalt Miller. Arnold and Barbara Miller | spent Saturday in Sioux City.
