Annual Banquet
EWING—Members of the fire
department will hald the annual
banquet for the members of the
board and their waves Thursday
evening at the American Legion
club.
The American Legion auxiliary,
unit 214, will prepare and serve
the dinner.
Officers of the village fire de
partment are Elmer Bergstrom,
president, Frank Noffke chief,
Jerry Rotherham; secretary and
treasurer. On the rural fire de
partment are Ralph Tomjack,
Frank Kruntorad, Harold Werk
miester, John Napier, Weslyn
Larson, William Hubei, Ewald
Spahn, Frank Haw'k and Melvin
Rexine.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Angus, who
were guests for a few days at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Larson, left Friday to visit with
relatives in Omaha before return
ing to their home at Ft. Collins,
Colo. They are former residents
of the Ewing community.
Mrs. Irwin Cloyd has spent
much of the time this month at
the home of her sister,, Mrs. Les
lie Brokaw, and family at Norfolk
following the car accident in
which two members of the family
were killed and the others re
ceived serious injury. Mrs. Cl^i^l
is now at her home in Ewing and
is back as operator in the tele
phone system.
Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hobbs and
Pfc. and Mrs. Robert Hobbs were
6 o’clock dinner and evening
guests on Friday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Hoke. On
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John Turay
entertained her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. L. A. Hobbs of Ewing, and
also her brother and sister-in-law,
Pfc. and Mrsv Roliert Hobbs of
Ft. Bragg, N.C. Private Hobbs
left Monday for Ft. Bragg where
he will be in field duty eight [

James C Pollock. The funeral
was held Monday afternoon at
United Presbyterian church. The
ladies are sisters of Mrs Pollock.

Last Week’s Sale Was Short
There will be between 800-400 head of cattle on the market
today (Thursday).
One consignment Includes 24 head of young nice quality
whltefaee heifers and steers; also a consignment of 14 head of
750-pound whltefaee steers; one bunch—23 head of medium
quality Hereford calves; one two-year-old registered Hereford
bull from the Rohde ranch.
In addition there will be the seasonal run of butcher cattle.
I>ast week’s sale was short due to bad roads anti weather. This
is expected to be a dandy sale.
Also featured: Ten bred gilts, to farrow right away; one
good seven-year-old Palomino saddle horse; 150 to 200 feeder
pigs.
