Page News Mr, and Mrs. Edgar Stauffer went to Halstead, Kans., Sunday, April 13, to bring his mother, Mrs. Mina Stauffer, back to her home at Page after spending the winter months there with her sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nissen and Mrs. Freida Asher went to Os mond Sunday, April 13, where they were dinner guests in the Lorenz Fuelberth home, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fuelberth were after noon vistors. The ladies are sis ters of Bernard and Lorenz Fuel berth. A group of ladies met at the home of Mrs. Cordes Walker Monday afternoon, April 14, to plan the program for the an nual May breakfast sponsored by the members of the WSCS. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Haynes ac companied Mr. and Mrs Harry' Harper to Royal Tuesday, April 8, where they visited Mr. and Mrs Fred Storm and Elmer Reed. The Harpers transacted business at Plainview also Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stauffer and family were April 11-12 guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Koehler at Fremont and vis ited friends in Lincoln. They at tended church at the Westside Methodist church near Oakland and visited in the home of the pastor, Rev. Truman Bachen berg, and family, returning home that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Parks and son, Larry, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robinson at Lin coin over the April 12-13 weekend Mr. and Mrs. Russell Johnson of Fremont brought her mother, Mrs. Emma Morris, to Page Sat urday, April 12, where the latter will spend the summer with her son, Paul Neubauer. Mrs. Carrie Taylor and daugh ters. Floma and Hazel, were Sun day, April 13. dinner guests in the William Neubauer home. Mr and Mrs. Leo Neubauer were also dinner guests there. I Make Plans for Poppy Day— PAGE- Members of the Amer ican Legion auxiliary met at the Legion hall Monday evening, April 14, for their April session , with Mesdames Soren Sorensen. Melvin Held, Edd Stewart and Calvin Harvey, hostesses. Two new members were pre sent : Mrs. Kenneth Wettlaufer and Mrs. Tony Mudloff. Mrs. Mudloff received the door prize and Mrs. Wettlaufer won the file fund prize. Poppy day will be observed with teas, held at various points in the community, and by can vassing the town as usual. Mrs Milo Landreth was named * hairman of the entertainment committee to furnish a number for the county auxiliary meeting to be held at Chambers in May. Departs for Visit— Mrs. H. E. Coyne departed Thursday for Chicago, 111., where she will visit about two weeks with her daughters, the Misses Mary Katherine and Veronica, letter she will go to Cleveland, O , to spend a week with another daughter, Doctor Nadine. Synod Officer Tells of Navajos EWING—Dr. Harold H Lo baugh of Topeka, Kans., secre tary of die Nebraska synod of the United Presbyterian church, conducted the morning worship hour at the United Presbyterian church here Sunday morning, April 13. He also spoke in the evening on the Navajo Indians and showed pictures of the tribe. Other Ewing News Recent guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. William H. Ross were Mrs. Robert McLaehlan of Atkinson and her daughter. Miss Laura McLaehlan. a missionary home on leave from Pakistan. Miss McLaehlan was alo a speak er at the Presbyterial held in Omaha the first of the month. Baptisms at the United Pres byterian church during the Eas ter season were Kevin, small son of Mr. and Mrs Wayne Fry; and Mark, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shrader; and W. E. Shra der. Others received into the church’s membership were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Butterfield. Dr. Louis Sokja, jr., of Omaha was a April 12-13 weekend guest at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sokja, sr. They also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. Pruden return-1 ed home Saturday, April 12. He | received his separation from the j army after serving five years— two of which were spent in Kor ea. He came by plane to Omaha from Anniston. Wood, to celebrate Mr. Davis’ birthday anniversary. April 15, at the Willie Shrader home. Roll call was answered with favorite months of the year. The pledges 10 the American and 4-H flags were given by Vicki Miller and Jerry Taylor.
