Ewing News Weekend vistors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tucker were Mr. and Mrs. S. D- Murphy and Kelly Ellsworth, both of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Junes and Johnny, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyie tucker and Rickie. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Kicnardson and lamely of O - Neill were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tucker. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Peterson went to Omaha Friday where Uiey met tneir son, Alien Peter son, ot Nortolk, Va., who came home on a ro-uay leave lrom the navy. Dr and Mrs. William H. Ross, Mr. ana Mrs. Willie Shrader, Mrs Archie Johnston and Mrs. Leo Miller left 'Tuesday morning tor Omaha. Miss Vianda Welke of Newman Grove spent the Easter holiday weekend with her mother, Mrs. Harriet W'elke. Miss Eleanor Pollock, who is employed in Omaha, was a weekend guest at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Poi rock. Miss Judy Jefferies enjoyed an Easter holiday vacation at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Jefferies. She is employed in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pruden were Easter dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs Richard Burt whistle, sr. Other .guests were Mr. and Mrs. S. M^ Burt wistle, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burtwistie, jr., and family, Mrs Hubei, Mr and Mrs. Bud Tange man and family. Guests from Thursday until Monday at the home of All. and Mrs. Lee Spittler were their son and daughter-in-law, Air. and Mrs. Richard Spittler, and daugh ter of Valentine. They also visi ted at the home of Air. and Airs. Max Wanser in Ewing and Dr. and Alt's. L. R. Suttcliffe at O’ Neill. The Leo Spittler family had a get-together on Easter at the home of Air and Airs. Sam Re gan and sons. A 1 o’clock dinner was enjoyed and the afternoon hours were spent informally. Pre sent were Air. and Mrs. Lee Spittler, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Funk and children, Air. and Airs. Ro bert Bartak and son, all of Ew ing, Dr. and Mrs. Leo Spittler and sons of Norfolk and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Spittler and daughter of Valentine Air. and Mrs. Max Wanser had as their guests on Easter Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Wanser and family ot Hartington, Airs. W. E. Wanser of Page, Jerry Wanser of Omaha and Judy Wanser of Norfolk. Jerry and Judy were also week end guests at the home of their parents. Mrs. Myrtle Kimes of Clear water was a holiday weekend guest at the home of her daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Earl Billings. Returning to their home at Aurora, 111., Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas King and children after spending the holi day weekend at the home of h£i mother, Mrs. Grace Briggs, and relatives of Mr. King's at Albion. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson were guests on Easter at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. A Bergstrom. They also attended the Easter services at the Methodist church. Mrs. Max Angus and son, Ran dall, of Piainsville, Kans. , is mak ing an extended visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Angus. Her husband, Max, is in the air force and is stationed in Spain. On Tuesday, Mrs. Loyd Angus aeornpaned by her daughter-in law, Mrs. Max Angus, and son of Piainsville, Kans. .drove to Madi son to spend the day with Mrs Elizabeth Angus, who is making her home with her daughter, Mrs. James Furley, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Munn were hosts at a family dinner on Easter. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bergstrom of Oma ha, who also visited relatives in Inman during the holiday week ' end, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bishop of Plainview, Mr. and Mrs. El ! mer Bergstrom and daughter. Kay, of Ewing. Mrs. Ida Secrist is now staying at the home of Mrs. Nellie Komer in Ewing. Leason on Sandwiches In Presented— Elkhorn extension club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. George Hansen with 18 members and one new member, Mrs. Atelvin Klingler, present. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. Nora Summers and Mrs. Tess Protivinsky. Mrs. Hazel Boatman read an article entitled "High Blood Pressure" The lesson on sandwiches was given by Airs. Robert Cook and Mrs. Rosa Bowers. A variety of sandwiches were prepared and later served as refreshments. Next meeting will be held May 13 at the home of Mrs. Preston Jones. Miss Eunice Van Horn, a stu dent at Mt. St. Marty college in Yankton, S.D., spent the Easter vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Ralph Van Horn. k "' ■ Abandoned farm home near Ewing; was totally destroyed by fire. — Frontier Photo Abandoned Farm Home Destroyed Unknown Origin for Easter Blaze EWING An abandoned farm home located l'u miles northwest of Ewing was completely des troyed by fire Easter Sunday. Ewing rural fire department received the alarm at 12:15 p.m. By the time the firemen reached the scene the roof anu east side had been completely consumed by the flames of unknown origin. Only the north, south and west walls were standing and the dwelling was hopelessly lost. Firemen, however, succeeded in preventing any spread of the flames. The place is owned by Earl Billings of Ewing, who told Fire Chief Frank Noffke the loss was partially covered by insurance. The house had not been occup ied for several years. The dwelling is considered a total loss, according to Mrs. H. R. Harris, The Frontier’s cor respondent. Bad Roads Force Cancellation— CHAMBERS The Easter sun rise services sponsored by the Methodist church had to be can celled due to bad roads and weather. The regular Easter service was held with a large number in attendance, considering the ad verse road conditions. The message by Rev. Harold Bonath concerned "What God Has done for Us”. "How Easter depends upon us and what we do”, the pastor de clared. The combined junior and senior choirs sang for the ser vice with Mrs. Elvvyn Robertson as organist. On Sunday evening, April 13. the monthly family night will be held at the church. The film, “Report Korea”, will be shown. Mrs. Laura Walker was a guest last week of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Cran dall, at Fremont. Robert Beckenhauer of Omaha spent the weekend with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Becken hauer. Kiverside News Mrs. Jim Pollock was a dinner geust of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Pol lock and Patsy in Ewing Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stewart of Page visited the Dave Pollock home Wednesday evening, April 2. Keith Biddlecome visited home folks over the Easter holidays. The Alfred Napier family ate dinner at Sunday at the Holland 1 lord home. Russel Napier of Sterling, Kans., came Friday to spend his Easter vacation with homefolks. Dennis Scheer helped with de horning and branding cattle at Vet Schlotman home Saturday and he helped dehorn some cal ves at the Lionel Gunter home Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Pollock and Phil of Omaha spent a few days visiting at the Dave Pollock home and with relatives in Ne ligh and Clearwater. The Wendell Switzer family, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Switzer and Jay Butler were Easter dinner guests at the Leo Miller hime. Anna Miller spent Easter Sun day at the Johnny Miller home.
