14 Compete in 4-H Speech Contest The annual 4-H public speak- j ing contest was held in the court- \ house annex Saturday morning with 14 4-H lx>ys and girls com peting in the contest. The con test was divided into four divi sions. The winners of the senior group of girls were Kathy Brady, Will ing Workers 4-H club of O’Neill, with the first blue ribbon, and Marlene Beck. Clover club of At kinson. with the second blue rib bon Winners of the senior boys’ di vision were Gary Fick, Victory Boys and Girls of Inman, with the top blue, and Rolx*rt Henning, Clover club of Atkinson, second blue ribbon. In the girls’ junior division, Margie Gilg, Clover club of At kinson, top blue; and Dianne Gil lespie, Willing Workers club of O’Neill, second blue. In the boys' junior division, Billy Gilg, who was the only en try in that division, won a red ribbon. Billy is a member of the Clover club of Atkinson. Other contestants in the senior division and their placings were: Catherine Schmidt, blue; Elaine Schaaf. red; Bernadette Shaffer, white; Margie Ries, white. These girls are all members of the Clo ver 4-H club of Atkinson. James Mellor, Clover club of Atkinson, was a red ribbon win ner in the senior division. In the girls’ junior division. Patty Bon enberger and Gale Standage of the Clover club. Atkinson, were red ribbon winners. Judges of the junior division were: Miss Alice French, county superintendent, Mrs. Dewey Schaffer and Weston Whitwer, soil conservation district: senior division judges were Harry Res sel, ASC office; Rev. Robert Duffy of St. Mary’s academy, and Mrs George Hartman, teach er and speech therapist. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McClel lan of Omaha were weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. James O'Conner. HEARING DELAYED A juvenile hearing for a 14 year-old O'Neill girl, charged with delinquency, was scheduled Mon day morning before District Judge D. R. Mounts.
