G u © a ® Escapes Serious Burns in Accident CHAMBERS Mr. and Mrs. A A. Walter received word that their son-irvlaw, Jim Kirkland or BurweU. had been Involved in a car-truck accident south of Bur weU late Sunday afternoon. Mr Kirkland, driver of the truck, said he was crowded on a bridge by the approaching car and hit the rail, which punctured the gas tank. The truck went into the ditch. He was pinned in the cab but broke the glass and escap ed with only minor burns on head and legs. Mr. Kirkland was taken to the BurweU hospital. McEl heron of Three Hills, Alt., Can., spent the weekend at Chambers where he conducted morning and evening services at the Memor ial Baptist church. Reverend McElheron, who has been a missionary to Africa for 22 years, is homo on furlough. He is a brother of Rev. L. A. McEl heron, former pastor of the Bap tist church here. The program and basket social held at district 26 with Miss Hal stead as teacher was a very suc cessful event. Mrs J. E. Wiley celebrated her birthday Sunday, Decern ber 15. She received a number of birthday cards from her many friends and she is still receiving them. Mrs H. H. Miles visited with her children in Lincoln over the weekend of December 7. Mrs Harold Osliom and Mrs Gordon Barta and Evelyn attend ed the junior class play, “Stars in Your Eyes", at Lynch Tuesday evening. Rev. and Mrs. Walstad and Becky were working at the Dor sey church one day last week get ting ready for the Christmas pro gram to lie held Monday evening December 23. Scottvilie extension club and the Lucky Clover 4-H club held their Christmas supper and party together Sunday evening, Decem ber 8, at the Scottville hall. Marlyn Graham and Kay Car son accompanied the Albert Car son girls home last Thursday eve ning from Lynch so they could at tend the program and basket soc ial given by Miss Doris Halstead They all helped in the program. Dorsey Aid Society met at the home of Mrs. Gerald Snyder Thursday, December 5. There was a nice turn out and everyone enjoyed themselves. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Carson and daughters. Mrs. Anna Carson and Miss Doris Halstead left Friday for Rushville to spend the week end at the home of Mrs. Albert Carson’s parents, the Evan’s, to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The Har old Halsteads are taking care of the chores at the Carson home during their stay. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Millard and Faye of Sioux City visited at the Harold Osborn home Sunday. Mrs Betty Millard and Linda returned to O'Neill with them. Workers Club Has I hree New Members INMAN Twelve members and one guest attended the dinner meeting at the Inman Workers project club at the home of Mrs. F. E Keyes Wednesday, Decem ber 11. The guest was Mrs. Minnie Gaughenbaugh of Hot Springs. SX> * Mrs. Melvin Lorenz presided at the business meeting. After the program the group revealed their "secret pal" for the past year and each received a Christmas gift. Names were then drawn for the coming year. Three new club members are Mrs. Ethel Siders, Mrs. Albert Anthony and Mrs. Clifford Sobotka. The January 15 meeting will be held at the coun try' home of Mrs. Karl Keyes. This will be an evening meeting with a covered dish dinner at 6:30 o' clock. Saturday Night Supper club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Baker and featured the opening of Christmas gifts. Later the group enjoyed a dinner party at the Town House. 'l ule Program Is Feature of 1 ea INMAN A nice crowd attended the tea and program given by the Women's Society of Christian Ser vice at the church annex on Thursday afternoon, December 12. Mrs L F. Kopecky presided Mrs. Woodrow Gaughenbaugh and Mrs. Wilbur Brown were in char ge of the Christmas program. Miss Marilyn Siders played a piano solo, "Star of the East". Mrs. Mewmaw, wife of the church pastor, was presented a Christmas gift from the society. This was followed by a lunch of sandwiches, Christmas cookies, candy, nuts tea and coffee.
