Official Proceedings Holt County Supervisors O’Neill, Nebr. July 31. 1957 10:00 A. M. Holt County Board of Super visors met as per adjournment. All members presnet. Minutes of the previous meetings were rend and approved as read. The Finance committee reported that the fees of the various coun ty officers have been remitted to the County Treasurer, as required by law. Motion by Barthel, seconded by Landreth to adopt the following resolution. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on or about the 20th day of August, 1956, there was filed in the office of the County Clerk of Antt lope County, Nebraska and also petitions filed in the office of the County Clerk of Holt C>unty, requesting the with drawal of territory from the Clearwater Rural Fire Pro tection District in order that the same may be annexed to the Ewing Rural Fire Pro tection District in Holt Coun ty. Nebraska. WHEREAS. the County Clerks of said counties have determined and certified that said petitions and the signa tures thereto comply with the requirements of law in all respects WHEREAS. the County Clerk of Antelope County pre sented a certified copy of the transcript of proceedings of the petition and certificates filed in Iter office to the Board of Directors of the Clear water Rural Fire Protection j/i>uici ior meir approval. The Board of Directors ap proved the proposal as set out in the petition at a spe cial meeting held July 2, 1957. WHEREAS, Notice of said hearing was duly puhlished as by law required, and WHEREAS, hearing was held July 25, 1957 at 2 o’clock P. M., wherein the County Board of Supervisors met and gave opportunity to be heard to all persons resid ing or owning taxable pro perty within the proposed ter ritory to be withdrawn, and there being no oral or writ ten objectioas, filed, and WHEREAS, careful consid eration has been given to said petition. Kenneth Waring, County Clerk Motion by Frickel, seconded by Smith, to adopt the following res olution RESOLUTION WHEREAS, at the regular mating of the County Board of Supervisors of Holt County, Nebraska, on the 31st day of August 1957, to grant permis sion to the farmer to construct an erosion control dam on the road right of way between Sec tioas 26 and 27, in Township 32, North Range 15. in Holt County, Nebraska. The County Board of Su pervisors of Holt County, Ne braska, agree to relieve the farmer and the government of all liabilities that may re sult from the installation of the structure and they agree to maintain the structures, if and when it becomes a County ROAD. A roll call vote thereon re suited as follows: AYE: Cronk, Barthel, Flood, Ernst, Smith, Landreth and Frickel. NAY: None. The motion for adoption having received the affirmative vote of more than three-fourths of the Board, the Chairman declared the same duly passed and adopt ed. 3:00 P. M. Motion by Frickel, seconded by Flood, that the following Resolu tion be adopted. RESOLUTION Whereas Robert Freed and Irene Freed, are residents of Holt Countv Nebraska nrmi temporarily absent therefrom and located in Omaha, Ne braska. and are the Mother and Fathers of Helen Jane Freed, bom December 17, 1946, and Ruth Freed bom January 8, 1950, and, Whereas it appears neces sary and proper that said named children may be com mitted to the Beatrice State Home at Beatrice, Nebraska and. Whereas the said Robert Freed and Irene Freed, parents of said children have not suf ficient means nor property for the purpose of paying the cost of care and maintenance of said children in said in stitution, and the same is properly a charge against the County of Holt and State of Nebraska, and. Whereas Holt County has re quested the commitment of said children take place through the medium of the County Court of Douglas County, Nebraska NO WTHEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY BS^RD OF SUPERVIS ORS OF HOLT COUNTY NEBRASKA: 1. That in the event of committment of the above named children to the Beat ri(CeTi^a*e Home, the County °A, Holt accepts and renders itself chargeable with the cost of the care and main- I tenance of said children therein and that the charges of maintenance for said chil dren be made against the County of Holt. This was the time set for the opening of the bids on the bridge materials. Bids Dedication of New Statue Is Held St Mary's academy students and parishioners of St. Patrick’s Catholic church participated in the dedication and blessing of an imported white statue of Our Lady of Lourdes Ceremony was held Tuesday, September 24. Very Rev. Timothy O'Sullivan, church pastor, officiated. O'Neill Photo Co. After reviewing the bids, it was found that Inland Construction Company of Omaha, Nebr., was the low bid and motion was made by Frickel, seconded by Ernst that Inland Construction Company bid be accepted. Motion carried. Motion by Barthel, seconded by Smith, that Wheeler Lumber Bridge & Supply Company be giv en an order for two carloads of bridge plank. Motion carried. Motion by Frickel, seconded by Landreth that the County Su perintendent be requested to re produce copies of the Letter of State Board of Education of Au gust 8, 1957, and Attorney Gener als Opinion of April 28, 1954, and mail copies to all School Boards in County with letter of instruc tion, advising that the County Board will expect all School Boards to regulate their future requests for operating funds in accordance with law.
