J Salstrand and son of Los Angeles. Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo T. Adams of Atkinson; Mrs. Sar ah Adams, Mr and Mrs. Glen Adams, Eugene and Dale, Mr. Mrs, Ralph Adams and Larry, Mrs. IJoyd Gleed. Mr. and Mrs. Art Walter and children, all of Chambers, also Robby and Stev ie Conley of Mont Rose, Colo. Missionary Quota Accepted by WSCS CHAMBERS- The Woman’s Society of Christain Serv ice met at the Methodist church Thurs day afternoon, July 11. with 18 members present. Mrs. LaVem Hoerle had charge of the devotionals and Mrs. K. N Adams the lesson on "Strangers Within the Gates". Mrs. T. E. Newhouse, Mrs Raymond Shoemaker, Mrs. Clar ence Damme, Mrs. C. V Robert son and Mrs. E. H. Medcalf I participated in a panel discussion. ! The president, Mrs Darrel Gil lette, presided at the business session. It was voted to accept the mis sionary askings for this quarter. It was announced that the Gar den club had arranged for the use of the church basement for August 6; also that July 25 would be a work meeting for the society. Plans were made for the follow ing 10 officers to attend an offi cers’ training day at Inman: Mrs. Darrel Gillette, Mrs. Glen Grimes, Mrs. Roy Miller, Mrs Joe Daas, Mrs A B. Hubbard, Mrs. E. Raymond Beed and daughter, Judy, drove to Iincoln Sunday, July 14, to visit his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs Norman Lubken and infant son, Michael Norman, and to bring back Mrs Beed, who had spent several days at the Lubken’s home. Rev Ward Smith, who is now pastor of a church at Shelton, was in Chambers Monday, July 15, on business and calling on relatives. Mrs. Jack Beirle and children came from Columbus Saturday to spend the week assisting her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Paul Roth Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hoffman and family visited in the Dean Stevens home Sunday evening, I July 14. Mrs. Clarence Martin, Ramona. Larry and Bud of Lincoln were dinner guests in the Ernest Jung bluth home Saturday. July 13. All returned to Lincoln that afternoon except Bud. who remained to work for Everet Jarman during haying. Jim Salem came up from Oma ha to spend the weekend with his I cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Daas. Mrs. Iva Hart of Pasadena, Calif., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Sarah Adams, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald McClen ahan and children of Council Bluffs, la., were weekend guests of their parents, Mr and Mrs. Omar McClenahan and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tangeman. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peltzer of Norfolk were guests of his broth er-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Walter, Sunday, July 14 The group spent part of the day fishing at Swan lake. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Damme and family visited his brother, the Leslie Damme family, at Clearwater Sunday, July 14. Vernon Whitaker and his nep hew, Russell Miner, took a few days vacation last weekend and attended a rodeo at Spooner, Wise., where both participated. They returned Monday. Bernard Hoffman carried the mail for Mr Whitaker. The Chambers Garden club met Wednesday, July 10, at Per kins Memorial park and enjoyed a dinner. Twelve members, six children and one visitor were present. After dinner the flow'er beds W'ere weeded and a business session was held. Following an interesting roundtable discussion, the group toured the gardens of several of the members. Door prize was w'on by Mrs. Lavern Hoerle. The next meeting will be held August 7 with Mrs. Orville Kellar ; Ewing News Mr. and Mrs Frank Burke and family of Vail, S. D , are visit ir^ relatives and friends in the Ewing and Deloit communities. Guests at he home of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Tomjack the past week were their daughters. Mrs Arthur Berg and Mrs Genevieve Reichert both of Long Prairie, Minn. Sunday guests at the Tom Jack home were their son and wife, Mr and Mrs. Leo Tom jack and son, Terry, of O’Neill and Mr. and Mrs Everett Jarman daughter. Mary Jo. of Chambers. On Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs Anton Tomjack enjoyed a visit from Mrs Everett Jarman and daughter, Mary Jo of Chambers. Word has been received from Rev. and Mrs Lee Brigden and Gary, who are enjoying a vaca tion trip through the Eastern States. During Rev. Brigden's absence, Mr. Ray Sedivy had charge of the Sunday morning Worship Hour at the Ewing Meth odist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shrader were hosts at a family get-to gether at their home on Sunday A one o’clock dinner was enjoy ed followed by an informal after noon. Present were Mrs. Ruth Waples and daughter. Judy, of Lincoln, Mrs. Don Walcott and children of El Paso, Tex., Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Morrow and Bruce, of O’Neill, Mrs. Flora Young and son, Wilmer, and James Bennett of Orchard, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bennett and Miss Ina Bennett of Ewing, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bennett and daughter who are guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bennett, since recov ering his separation from the armed forces last week. Mr and Mrs. Sis Ehbengaard entertained Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stevens at dinnner on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R B. Krachie and grandson. Jerry Jefferies re turned on Saturday from a vaca tion trip to Minnesota where they enjoyed some good fishing Mrs. Lloyd Angus accompanied her brother and w'ife, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Wilcox of Madison, and her sister, Mrs. D. E. Wed ding of Des Moines, la,, to Naper Wednesday, July 10, where they attended the funeral of a cousin, Mrs Ada Reber. Mr and Mrs. Waldo Davis and daughter, Marie, accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Dav is, drove to Danbury, la.. Sunday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs Gaylord Bumstead. Mrs. Waldo Davis accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Homer Barton of Orchard, were in Norfolk, Wednesday, July 10, while their mother, Mrs. Louise Beal of Or chard, visited in Tilden. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Barton also stopped on their return trip in Til den to \ isit with Mrs Cora High tower from Los Angeles, Calif., and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Beelaert and son from Washington state, who have been guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Marie Beelaert, left Monday to return to their home. Mrs. Anna Savidge accom panied them as far as Billings. Mont., where she continued on her way by bus to the home ot her daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Rodfern. and family at Butte, Mont She also plans to spend some time at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Tomjack at Jerome, Ida. Mrs. Tomjack will accompany h e r mother hack to Ewing when she returns in about three weeks. Overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs Bon Larsen Friday were his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Larsen of Alva da, Mont. On Saturday they left for Excelsior Springs, Mo. Rev. Su Relieved As Moderator STUART Rev. D, D Su, past or of the Stuart Federated church and Cleveland Presbyterian church, Tuesday was relieved as moderator of the Niobraott Pres bytery at a preshyterial meeting at Niobrara. No successor has been named for Reverend Su either as moderator or as Stuart pastor. Reverend Su will deliver his farewell sermon at the two churches Sunday, July 28, After a month's vacation he will com mence as Presbyterian pastor at Mini tare.
