Retiring Matron Presented Gift Mrs. Margaret White, police matron who recently resigned, was feted at a farewell party last Thursday evening. Bride Elect In Feted at Showers— Miss Barbara Lou Strong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern on Strong, was feted at tw’o showers recently. Miss Strong was married Sunday to Wayne Barnes of Emmet. Mrs. Clarence Strong, her aunt, gave a miscel laneous shower Thursday, June 13. That same evening, she was honored at another miscellaneous shower at the Methodist church in Emmet. Mrs. Ed Etherton and Mrs. Mary Lewis were hostesses. Miss Asher Feted— Miss Donna Asher of St James Mo., formerly of O’Neill, was guest-of-honor at a wiener roast at Ford’s Park Friday afternoon. Notes Birthday Little Sheryl Kay Vorce was hon ored at a family dinner party Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Vorce. She is a daugh ter of he Alvin Vorces. Sheryl Kay celebrated her fourth birth day anniversary. Froelich were hosts at a picnic Saturday evening at their home. Their weekend guests, here for the golf tournament, were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Chvala-Darnell Nuptials at Lynch LYNCH Miss Mary Chvala of Monovvi. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Chvala, and Donald Dar nell of Lynch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Darnell, were mar ried at a quiet ceremony by Rev. Charles Kamber Tuesday, June 11. Mr. and Mrs. August Kal kowski were the attendants. The newlyweds were hosts at a free show on Thursday. They will live in West Lynch and farm. Favorite Season Is Named— CHAMBERS — Kellar club met Wednesday, June 5, at the home of Mrs. G. H. Grimes with Mrs. Louis Neilson cohostess. Sixteen members and one guest, also several children, were present. Roll call was answered by nam ing the favorite season. Door prizes were awarded Mrs. Sam Young and Mrs. Alfred Maas. Several hymns were sung by the group. Mrs. Glen Grimes presid ed at the business session In the absence of the President. A pro gram in charge of Mrs. Guais Wintermote and Mrs. Clyde Kiltz was presented. It consisted of readings, a quiz game and some rounds. Lunch was served. The next meeting which will be at the last for the summer will be at the home of Mrs. Guias Winter mote with Mrs. Clyde Kiltz co hostess. Father Kclligar’s Father Dies — ATKINSON Funeral services were held Monday at St. Jos eph's Catholic church at Auburn for Lee Kelligar, 58. former Ne maha county attorney. Mr. Kelligar, an Auburn at torney 35 years, died Friday, June 14. Rosary was at 8 p.m., Sunday. One of his sons. Rev. William L. Kelligar of Omaha, until re cently assistant pastor at St. Joseph's church in Atkinson, cele brated the solemn requiem mass Monday. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN (O’Neill) Rev. Ted, who was an honor stu dent, finished runnerup in the golf tournament in the cham pionship flight held at the Coun try club over the weekend. Weekend guests of Mr, and Mrs. Paul Shierk were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Henson and daugh ters of Marshall, Minn. They and the Kenneth Jurans ami family went to Wagner, S. D., for a fam ily reunion Sunday. Upon return ing home, the Bensons found their town under water and Mr. Benson helped evacuate persons in danger.
