Albion arrived Sunday to visit
her son, Verne, and family. She
came to attend the graduation of
her grandson, James.
Mr and Mrs. Homer Mullen
went to Nebraska City to visit his
mother, Mrs. Mary Mullen, for
mother’s day. They returned

Mrs. Leon Mellor of Redbird
visited her sister, Mrs. Preston
Jones, Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Grutsch, El
win and Maurice went to Laurel
Sunday to spend mother’s day
with Mr. and Mrs. John Grier.
Mr. and Mrs. 1^ G. Stevens of
Oakland were also guests. Mrs.
Grier is remembered as the form
er Edna Moler, who lived here
years ago.
Miss Bernadette Brennan was
in Omaha over the weekend. She
returned Monday
Mr and Mrs Willard Rust and
Roger of Spencer were dinner
guests at Mr. and Mrs. Esty Nel
son’s home one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hansen and
family of Norfolk visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Flood
for mother’s day.
Mr and Mrs. Buddy Cloyd of
Sidney. la., arrived Saturday to
visit her parents, the John Dono
hues Mr. Cloyd left Monday and
his wife will remain for a longer
visit.
Mrs. William Biglin and Mrs.
Margaret Boler went to Omaha
Saturday to visit their sister, Miss
Ann Waters.

DORSEY—Miss Doris Halstead
held her school picnic at district
26 Sunday, May 12. She had a
"very nice turn out’’ considering
the rainy weather. However,
everyone was glad to see the
moisture, and enjoyed the picnic
dinner inside the school. Games
were played in the afternoon.
Mists Halstead plans on teach
ing another year in her present
school.
Several from this community
participated in the eighth grade
graduation exercises. Some
schools were dismissed for the
day while others excused the
pupils who cared to attend.
Miss Brenda Beelart held her
school picnic Friday at the Gib
son school, with a "very good”
attendance.
Miss Delores Wells vtsied at
Kilgore over the weekend. Miss
Wells plans her school picnic

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Marston
left for their summer’s work at
Yellowstone park, Wednesday,
May 8, after having spent the
winter with Mrs. Marston’s folks,
the J. E. Wileys. Mr. and Mrs.
Marsten took the Wileys to Cal
ifornia for an extended visit a
month or so ago. The Wileys are
now' staring home, but visiting
along the way.
The Lucky Clover 4-H club mex
at the Marvin Richter home Fri
day evening, May 10. This was
the first home meeting of the
year. All are ready to go to work
on their different projects and
make a successful year for the
club.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Butter
field of Orchard were callers at
the Harold Osborn home Satur
day afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barta and
Evelyn visited at the William
Kalal home in Verdigre Saturday.
Mr and Mrs. Joe Cihlar were
O'Neill callers Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brady. Sr.,
spent several days in O’Neill the
past week They spent the eve
nings at the IjOQ Brady, jr., home.

Carolyn Lindberg were hostesses
Monday evening at a miscellan
eous shower for Miss Esther
Kaiser, who will marry Warren
Seger Sunday, June 2. The affair
wras held in the DeBolt home.

Reed Herlev were hostesses last
Thursday at a luncheon at the
M & M in honor of Mrs. J. Lavern
Jay. Guests were members of

McGuire-Olberding
Rites at Stuart
BASSETT—Miss Maxine Claire
McGuire, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. H. McGuire of Bassett,
became the bride of LuVern Ol
berding, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Clemens Olberding of Stuart,
I Thursday morning. May 9, at
Boniface Catholic church at Stu
art. Rev. A. J. Paschang offi
ciated.
The bride, given in marriage
y her uncle, Clifford Turpin
of Bassett, wore a gown of white
nylon tulle over net and taffeta,
styled with a voliuninous skirt
ending in a chapel-length train.
Lace appliques trimmed with ir
ldescents and seed pearls out
lined the batteau neckline of the
sweetheart bodice. Six floating
panels were gathered to matching
lace inserts at points around the
skirt. A row of self-covered but
tons closed the back of the cap
sieevea gown.
She wore matching mitts of
tulle and a fingertip veil of ny
lon net held by a lace capulet
trimmed with irridescents. Her
colonial bouquet of yellow roses
was centered with a separate
corsage of yellow' carnations.
Miss Norma Halligan was maid
of-honor and wrore a waltzlength
gown of white lace over blue
taffeta with matching blue mitts.
She carried a nosegay of yellow
carnations.
Mrs. Jack Buoy of Long Pine,
sister of the bride, was brides
maid. She wore a gowft styled
like that of the maid of honor
with white lace over yellow' taf
feta and carried a nosegay of
blue carnations. Both dresses
were styled with a single self
band over one shoulder and were
trimmed with rhinestones.
The bridegroom was attended
by Fred Friedel of Stuart, best
man, and Jack Buoy of Long
Pine, groomsman. They also
served as ushers.
Miss Shirley Fox had charge
of the guest book at the recep
tion. Misses Cyd Little and
Sharon Olberding, niece of the
bridegroom, were in charge of
the gifts. Mrs. Elvin Jackson of
Long Pine presided at the ser
ving table, assisted by Miss La- ,
Nita Turpin, of Bassett.
A wedding dinner for relatives j
and members of the w'edding
party was held at noon at the j
Range cafe at Bassett. A wed
ding dance was held at Stuart in
the evening.
The bride was graduated from
Rock county high school and
has been employed by the county
welfare office at Bassett. The
bridegroom was graduated from
Stu/arl high school and has ser
ved in the army.
The couple will reside at Stu
art where the bridegroom is en
gaged in farming.
Mr. and Mrs. William Petsche
attended the first solemn mass of
their cousin. Rev. Henry Schorn
in Atkinson Monday morning.
