Sunshine, ABC C lubs in Joint Meeting LYNCH—The Sunshine exten sion club of Sunshine Bottom en tertained the ABC extension club of north of Spencer at the Har old Potter home for the after noon and tea on Tuesday, April 30. Each club has 12 members and all were present. Other Lynch News Mr and Mrs. Ed. Streit, Mr. and Mrs Lorie Micanek, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Moody, also Mrs. Dale Audiss of Butte and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Haselhorst attended the funeral of Mrs. Herman Has elhorst at Randolph last Thurs day. Mrs. Leonard Havranek took care of the Moody children the day of the funeral and Mr. and Mrs. Moody spent the evening at the Leonard Havranek home, bringing the children home with them. Mrs. Pete Mulhair spent Fri day with Mrs. Bill Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Guilsorl of Long Pine visited at the Merle Sieler home Friday. Mrs. Charles Courtney enter tained eight ladies at her home Thursday afternoon. Games and visiting was the schedule. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Moody, sr., were Friday 6 o’clock dinner guests at the Leland Moody home. “Help Mom and Dad” 4-H club met at the Charles Courtney home Monday evening, April 20. Eight members were present and Mrs Edward Heiser and Mrs Don Allen we- e the leaders. Di ane Spencer and Jill Soulek dem onstrated the use of measuring spoons. Mrs. Veldun Lee and son, Al bert spent Friday at the William Stouffer home. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Moody and family spent Monday evening, April 22, at the Edward Streit home. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Teadtke and family returned home Sun day, April 28, from Missouri where they had spent the past week at the Ed Wiley home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahlendorf and Marie were business visitors in Butte Wednesday, April 24. Dr. and Mrs. Donald David of Spencer spent Sunday, April 21, at the Dr. Joseph David home. Guy Barnes received word that his cousin, Fred B. Welch was injured during the tornado at Milford Thursday. He is in the hospital. His house was com pletely destroyed. The Wesleyan Methodist Mis sionary society met at the Orval Holtz home Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Glen Davy conducted the lesson hour. Mrs. Charles Courtney and Mrs. Clarence Kohlund were O’Neill visitors Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Koscan of Anoka were Sunday, April 12 visitors here. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahlendorf and Josephine visited relatives in Lake Andes and Mitchell, S. D. on Easter. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnson and family were Easter Sunday guests at the David Johnson home at Creighton. Archie Juracek and Miss La Vada Frerichs called at the El mer Juracek home Sunday, April 21. The Gibson school had an Easter party Friday afternoon, April 19. The Cedar Corner school had a weiner roast the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Waring and son spent Saturday evening April 20, with Mr. and Mrs. Ewalt Miller and family. Mrs. Hattie Boelter accompanied them home to spend a few days. Irma Juracek spent Sunday, April 21, with Barbara Miller. The PTA meeting was held at the Gibson school Thursday eve ning, April 18, Mrs. Bob Sholes and Mrs. Frank Kopejtka were in charge of the entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hibbs and family were Easter Sunday guests at the home of Mrs. Art Hibbs and Lillian, near O’Neill. Two Wedding Anniversaries— Sunday dinner guests at the Ivan Cone home were Mr. and Mrs. Guy O’Dey, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan O’Dey and son, Stanley, and Marvin O’Dey and Mrs. Lottie Wauer, all of Tilden, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jensen of Royal and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brandt and son, Duane, of Creighton. The occasion was the 40th wed ding anniversary of the Cones’ and the fourth for the Brandt’s. Mrs. Hill wertz is well-known in the fields of photography and commercial art and gives exhibitions at i national photo conventions. She teaches at Wi nona School of Photography each summer and is ! an instructor at the Chicago School of Art. Her ___ work has been published In Life magazine, var ious childrens’ magazines and in Rand-McNally publications. Holt 4-H Leaders Hear Delegate Reports The Holt county 4-H leaders held a mee^ng at the courthouse i annex Wednesday, April 24. Leaders taking part in the meeting were Mrs. Glenn Gillogly, Mrs. Opal Hammerlun, Mrs. Ralph Beckwith, Mrs. Charles Nutter, Walter Fick and Mr. Gillogly. v They relayed to the other lead ers the things they had learned at the leaders, training meeting which they attended in Norfolk. Group discussions were held and lists of 4-H objectives were made, telling what each of three groups expects of 4-H, the child, the par ent and the leader. In the afternoon, Gary Fick and Bob Ruther gave their dem onstration on “Safe Handling of Livestock.1' A. Neil Dawes and Mr. Schmidt gave a demonstration on th.> "Care of Extension Cords.” The balance of the afternoon was spent in group learning more about leading cooking, sewing, livestock and home living pro jects. One visitor, Mrs. Clayton Nelson, was present with 10 members in attendance. Roll call was answered with an item on Nebraska. Mrs. Ewalt Miller gave a report on “Points of In terest in Nebraska.” The May meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Leonard Jura cek. Roll call will be a cookie recipe. The club was informed that it would be losing a mem ber, Mrs. John Landen, who is moving from the community sometime in May. After the meeting Mrs. Bob Tomlinson was in charge of the entertainment. Lunch was served Mr. and Mrs. John Watson and family spent the Easter weekend in Wells, Minn., visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Preston. All Members Present for Grattan Meeting— The Grattan Flats 4-H club held a regular meeting Thursday evening at the Bernard Pongratz home. All members were present. Carlene Nongratz gave a demon stration on measuring dry and liquid ingredients. Larry Lorenz and Jerry Brockman gave a bird discussion. Jerry Brockman and Andy Riffey showed various kinds and weights of rope and told their uses. Morris Pongratz gave a demon stration on bits. Richard Pon gratz described and showed the kinds and uses of screw drivers. The club attended fun nite in O’Neill Saturday evening and put on a skit for the program. Morris Pongratz and Richard Ernst received tractor awards. Velda Ernst received a clothing award and one for dress revue. Richard Pongratz received a garden award and Douglas Fried rich received a crops award. Next meeting will be held at the Homer Ernst home May 13 at 8 p. m.—By Richard Ernst, news reporter. A banquet was served in the Methodist church parlors. E. E. Vance, grandmaster cf the IOOF in Nebraska, delivered the address. The Inman degree team put on the degree. Ewing Girl Weds in Oregon— EWING—Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Doud announce the marriage of their daughter, Shirley Dould, to Robert Moon. The rite took place at the Christian church at Rose burg, Ore., on March 30. The couple will make their home at 151 S. 10th PL, Spring field, Ore. Mr. Moon has em ployment here. Ray Donohoe, a student at Nor for the weekend and also at tended the St. Mary’s academy lumni banquet. Stuart Stock Track to Reopen Sunday STUART—Stock car racing will be resumed at Stuart Sunday, May 5, starting at 2 p. m. The track was idle last year. Already entered in the first showing for the new season are: Ed Rezac, Schmuecker brothers of Atkinson, Dick Wolfe of Fair fax, S. D., Iden brothers of Greg ory, S. D., and Chuck Pacena of Spencer. Phone Field Man Explains Procedure LYNCH—A telephone meeting was held at the IOOF hall Tues day, April 30 at 8 p.m. Earl J.
