' ‘Bud’ Hilghes Dies
of Heart Attack
DORSEY—Mrs. R. L. Hughes
received word last week of the
death of her brother, I. L.
(“Bud") Hughes, who died of a
heart attack in Eugene, Ore.
The late Mr. Hughes lived j
with his parents in the Scottville'
community a number of years
ago.
He married Arlene Long and
they moved to Oregon where they
have since made their home.
Survivors isclude: Widow —
Arlene; two daughters; two sons;
three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday, February 25, at Eugene.

with quality excellent and
buyers eager, it was another
very active market, ruling
from 25 to 50 cents higher on
stockers and feeders and $1 00
to $1.25 on all butcher cows,
canners and cutters and fully
$5.00 to $10.00 per head on
breeding cows. 50 head of out
standing cows from the Char
les Dorsey ranch in Rock
county sold at a new season’s
high, from $150.00 to $168.00
per head.
Top beef cows reached
$13.00 and heiferettes up to
$14.50 cwt, only a few shelly
cows sold under $10 00 cwt.
Butcher bulls $13.0 to $14.25.
Light steer calvo3 up to
$24.00 cwt. Bulk $19.00 to
$22.00. Yearlings $18.50 to
$20.00. Heifer calves $17.50
to $19.00 cwt.

funeral of her brother. Tom
Clausson, at Louisville, Kv. Mr.
Clausson fell recently and frac
tured his hip. He submitted to
surgery, but never recovered.
Vern Sageser took his mother
to Sioux City from where she
went by train to Louisville.

91, of St. Joseph, Mo., died
Thursday, February 28. He was a
brother of Mrs. Emma Lindsey.
Funeral services were held at
’■lencoe, la. Mrs. Lindsey was un
aule to attend the funeral.
The late Mr. Barber had visited
Amelia a few years ago.

Mrs. Coolidge spent the night with
her daughter, Mrs. Bill Ragland,
and Mrs. Backhaus was an over
night guest at the Mcrwyn French ,
home. The following afternoon
Mrs. French invited several ladies
to her home to visit with Mrs.
Backhaus.

February 26, to get lake trout fish
to stock lakes in their places. The
fisn were supplied by the Valen
tine fish hatchery.
