Rev. and John Rempei and family of Long Pine were Sunday dinner and supper guests at the Hans Lauridsen home on January 13. Rev. Rempei held church ser vice* in the Lauridsen school house that day. Joe Hendricks and Clarence Focken attended the meeting of the Holt county rural school boards which was held in O’Neill. Mrs. Connie Frickel helped with TB registration Thursday at the city hall in Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hendricks were Friday dinner guests at the Omer Poynts home. Alex Forsythe was a January 6 supper guest at the Clarence Foc ken home. Joe Hendricks and Mrs. Linford Sweet were Friday evening visit ors at the O. A. Hammerberg home. Mrs. Connie Frickel attended the lesson given extension club leaders Friday on "Landscaping" at the home of Mrs. Walter Reis in Atkinson. The Thursday Bridge club met Thursday afternoon, January 10, at the home of Mrs. R. G. Rockey. Miss Frances Rotherham was a guest. The hostess won high score but she presented prizes to Mrs. John Archer and Mrs. William Spence. Refreshments were served. Mrs. R. G. Rockey was the honored guest of the members of the Thursday Bridge club on Tuesday, January 8, at a 1 o’clock dinner held at the home of Mrs. Maud Brion in Neligh. A farewell gift was presented to her with best wishes. Others present were Mrs. Lyle Dierks, Mrs. William Spence. Recent weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dierks were their two daughters, Mary Alys and Sandra, both of Omaha. Miss Sandra returned on Sunday and on Tuesday Merton Dierks took his sister, Mary Alys, to Minneapolis, Minn., where she i will work in St. Mary’s hospital. Miss Nissen and Mr. Bowen are stu dents at Wayne State Teach er’s college at Wayne, where Miss Nissen is majoring in commerce and Mr. Bowen is majoring in music education. A May wedding is planned. Hughes-McK-im Rites Read in Mason City Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Marian Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Richard Robert Hughes of Clear Lake, la., to Clinton DeWayne McKim, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clin ton McKim, sr., o-f Mason City, la. The ceremony took place Sun day, January 6, at Bethlehem 1 Lutheran church, Mason City. The bridegroom is a nephew of Lyle and Orville McKim. His par ents are former O’Neill residents. NEW SIGN AMELIA—A new electric sign board was installed at the Metho dist church last week. The lights go on at 6 p.m., and off at mid night. The sign is attractive and adds to the church property. Bridge Played— jeudi club met Thursday, Jan uary 10, with dinner at 7 o’clock at the Town House. Bridge was played at the home of Mrs. L. R. Mrs. James M. McMahan at tended a meeting of Symphony chapter OK'S at O'Neill on Thurs day evening. She was installed at treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. James Coventry drove to Norfolk on Friday. Mrs. Coventry remained for a longer stay in the home of their son-in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hartigan. Mrs. Hartigan and infant son were released on Friday from Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. Mrs. May Fraka returned home on Sunday from Wisner, where she spent several weeks in the home of her son - in - law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Luben, and family. The WSCS met Thursday af ternoon at ihe home of Mrs. R. B. South for a regular meeting. Mrs. Eleanor Gaughenbaugh was in charge. Mrs. Blanche Rouse had charge of the lesson. Raymond Stamp returned home from Wyoming on Mon day night where he had spent several weeks visiting relatives. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of their mother, Mrs. Otto Matschullat. Miss Irene Kopejtka was a Monday night guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wulf and family of Clearwater. Early Wednesday morning they drove to Omaha where their son, James left for Rhode Island where he is stationed with the navy. Hartfords Return from California— Mr. and Mrs. George Hartford returned Tuesday, January 8, from nearly a month’s stay in California. They visited their children and their families. Woman to Hospital After Car Mishap LYNCH — Mrs. Frank Swo ! boda’s car skidded on the icy road south of the Art Retzlaff place, southeast of town, on Friday,; January 11, hitting the bank and going into the ditch. Mrs. Swo boda was taken to the hospital for observation relative to internal injuries. Other Lynch News Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fish spent several days in Missoula, Mont., visiting at the Raymond Havranek home. They returned home on Wednesday, January 9, and Raymond returneed here with them to look after business matters. The Fish children stayed with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Havranek, dur ing their absence. Leonard did the chores at the Fish home during their absence. Chrisy Lihs of Bristow called at the William Mahlendorf home on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry MuLhaii and Mrs. Bernice Row spent sev oral days in Omaha the past week. The Lynch center, Boyd county ' leader’s training meeting for ex tension officers, was held at the Moody cafe Tuesday, January 8, with Harriett Adams of Lincoln the instructor. The Spencer high school assembly room was filled to capacity Monday night at the open house affair signaling the final payment on the school's indebtedness. Butcher and in fant daughter, Susan Mary, de parted Wednesday to join Captain Butcher at Smyrna, Tenn. They were accompanied as far as Kan sas City, Mo., by Mrs. Butcher's mother, Mrs. M. J. Golden, who will visit Dr. and Mrs. Richard Owens, and family for a week. Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Eason went to Omaha thus week to attend a four-day dental meeting. From there they will go to Mt. Ayr, la., to visit Doctor Eason’s sister, They expect to be gone two weeks. S/Sgt. Wallace Wilmer depart ed Tuesday, January 8, for Sun derstrom air base in Greenland where he will be assigned for a year. His wife, Mary, and infant son, Russell, will spend the year with Mrs. Wilmer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Graham.
