Feast On Holiday Mushroom Muffins JLf ARVELOUS are muffins made with condensed cream of mush room soup. Their subtle flavor and extra special texture bring magical mouthwatering moments . . . especially when served on the days of feasting along with that holiday bird. HOLIDAY MUFFINS t cups sifted flour lean (1*4 evp*) condensed Cream 1 tablespoon baking pouder of mushroom soup 1 tablespoon sugar *4 cup chopped walnuts Vi teaspoon salt 14 cup melted shortening 1 egg, beaten Sift dry ingredients Into a bowl Mix soup, walnuts, shortening and egg, add to flour mixture Stir until well blended. Fill greased muffin tins Vi full Bake in a hot oven (400° F.) about 20 minutes. Makes 12 muffins. They’d make a special breakfast surprise some morning, too. You might like to vary this recipe by substituting condensed cream of chicken or cream of celery soups in place of the condensed cream of mushroom soup. ms iJage News Mr. and Mrs. Bill Aim of Dor sey and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lan dreth went to Omaha Sunday to visit the ladies’ father, Felix Hendricks of O'Neill, at the home of another sister, Mrs. E. E. Dad dao, to where he has been trans ferred from an Omaha hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kelly were Sunday evening callers at the Hoy Zellers home. Mrs. Icie Snyder was hostess to 30 members of the Improve ment club Monday evening when plans were made for procuring the Christmas treat and commit tees were named to carry out the plans. Mrs. Cordes Walker heads the committee in charge of the polio drive in the community. A profit of $19 was realized from the lunches served at the Shan ner farm sale recently. The club recently sponsored a book review on “The Sea of Glory”, presented by Mrs. Henry Canonberg of Bassett. Mrs. Harold Kelly re ported that January 29 has been set for the visit of the mobile X ray unit at Page. Elmer Clasey and Gladys Sut ton were Wednesday supper guests in the home of the for mer’s brother, George Clasey and family. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Matschullat took their daughter, Mrs. Alice Clark, and daughter, Shirley, to Norfolk early Sunday morning where they entrained for their trip home at San Diego, Calif., after spending about 10 days vis iting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Gerkin of North Platte spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Hester Ed misten, and were Sunday dinner guests at the Calvin Harvey home. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Asher and daughters were also guests there. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Nissen re turned Tuesday, November 27, from Iowa and Missouri where they had visited his_ daughter, Mrs. Henry Henneigen at Bed ford, la., and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Swanson at Kansas City. Mrs. Herbert Steinberg and Iceland Finely held high scores Saturday evening when Mr. and Mrs. William Waterman were hosts to the members of the Pinochle club. Miss Winnie Vandersnick of Ewing was a Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cunningham. Sterling Albright of Sioux City spent the weekend at Page with his mother and with other rela tives. Miss Maude Martin went to Hannibal, Mo., Thursday where she will spend the winter with her elderly sister and brother-in law, who are in failing health. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. William Neu bauer were Saturday evening vis itors in the Robert Harvey home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Held and Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Riege were Thursday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Clasey. Mrs. Alice Clark and daughter, Shirley, were Saturday supper guests of Mrs. Georgia Hill at Ne ligh. Mr. and Mrs. Morlin Chichester of Boise, Ida., came Saturday evening to the home of his moth er and brother, Mrs. Rose and Elbert Chichester, enroute to Wayne to attend the funeral ser vices for her mother. A Christmas party will be given at the home of Mrs. Wil liam Scheinost on Thursday, De cember 13, and plans were made accordingly when 13 members and three guests, Mrs. Frieda Asher, Mrs. F. G. Albright and Mrs. Harold Melcher, met for a j social afternoon of visiting and needlework at Mrs. Ben Asher’s on Thursday. Within the week, Mrs. Frank Belik has sold her personal pro perty and will move to Inman, j Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Park have i sold their farm and personal pro perty at auction. The farm was purchased by Melvin Roach of Page. Posession will be given March 1. The last study period of the study on “Southeast Asia”, con ducted by Mrs. Melvin Smith at her home, was held Tuesday morning. The immediate reaction from the study is that each one will sign up for correspondence with a missionary whose birthday is quite close to their own. These contracts should broaden their knowledge on missions and prove most interesting. Mrs. Alice Clark of San Diego, Calif., daughter of Mrs. Otto Matschullat, and Mrs. F. G. Al bright were guests November 28, when 11 members of the Royal Neighbor Kensington were guests of Mrs. Frieda Asher for a so cial afternoon. Plans were made for a grab bag at the Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Hester Edmisten with Mrs. Elsie Cork the probable hostess. Mrs. Frank Cronk was hostess to the members of the Bid-or Bye Bridge club for the Christ mas party, which was stepped up to include Mrs. John Lamason, who leaves shortly for California for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Bartak took the group to Omaha Saturday where they boarded a plane for the return trip. Mr. Blezek was last year’s athletic coach at Page. Donald L, John son, son of Mr and Mrs, Ru dolph T Johnson, of O'Neill, is troop information and educa tion non-commissioned officer in the 25th infantry division's medical battalion in Hawaii. Sergeant Johnson, a veteran of nine years service in the armed forces, lias been over seas since April, 1954. He is a former student at O’Neill high school.
