Engagement Told Mr and Mrs. Harry Johnson of O’Neill announce the engage ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Hazel Marie, to Bruce McElhaney. Mr. McElhaney recently returned from Germany where he served with the army. A dinner was served at noon by the hostess, followed by a social af ternoon. Arbutus Rebekah lodge met Wednesday evening, November 14, at the lOOF hall. Mrs. Hazel Lorenz was in charge. Mrs. Faye Smith and Mrs. Grace Luben are planning Christmas for the IOOF home at York. Sunday guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Siders and Marilyn included Mrs. Clarence Juracek and children t>f Orchard, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Snyder and children of O’Neill and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fick. Mr. and Mrs. James Coventry and son, Bill, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vitt and daughters of O’Neill drove to Omaha Friday morning, returning home Satur day. Mr. and Mrs Richard Hutton and daughter of Bassett were weekend guests in the home of Richard’s parents, Mr and Mrs. T D. Hutton. Mr. and Mrs. William Hibbs and family of Star are expected to be guests in the home of Mrs. Hibb’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Siders, and Marilyn on Thanks giving day. .. Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Kopeeky and son visited in the Newhouse home in Chambers on Sunday. Paul Bittner attended a meet ing of the state highway depart ment at Burwell on Tuesday eve ning, November 13. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morsbach and family of Clearwater and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Morsbach and family of Neligh spent Sunday visiting in the home of Elizabeth Morsbach. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Scholz of Neligh spent Sunday visiting in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Scholz and Mrs. Elizabeth Morsbach. Ralph Sholcs, who is employed at Fullerton, with the telephone company spent the weekend vis iting his mother, Mrs. Violet Sholes. CV’NEILL LOCALS Lyle Fox expects to leave Monday, November 26, for Con necticut where he will attend a submarine school. Enroute he plans to visit a college friend in Chicago, 111., for a day. John and Richard Bohn are expected home Wednesday from the University of Nebraska. Their brother. Max, left Mon day, November 5, for Ft. Chaf fee, Ark., and will not be home for Thanksgiving. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Dominick Bohn. The Misses Rose Mary and El len Corkle, who are students at St. Mary’s college, Xavier, Kans. are expected home. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Berner and Suz,anne expect to spend Thanks giving in Norfolk with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Berner. Jim Coker, a student at Wich ita University, Wichita, Kans., is expected to spend Thankksgiving with his mother, Mrs. Abbie Cok er. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Cleveland, jr., expect her parents, Mr. and Mi's. Darrel Hoffman of Clear water, and the latter’s sons and other daughters for Thanksgiv ing. There will be 22 guests.
