D„ Wednesday, Octo ber 17 where she visited her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cooper. Carnival skating party at the Neligh rink, Sunday, October 28. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith drove | North Platte Thursday in re- j ponse to a telephone call from their son, Richard, who was there on business. They returned on Friday and Richard went on to Denver. \ Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Medcalf and children left Thursday, Oc tober 18, for their home at Sioux City after spending several days with the E. H. Medcalf and E. R. Carpenter families. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hoff man were in Norfolk one day last week. The American Legion met Friday evening at the Legion Hall with Commander Stanley Lambert in charge. Plans for veterans day were discussed and a smorgasbord, dance and picture planned for November 12, as veterans day—November 11 falls on Sunday. Two members of the Auxiliary met with the Legion to help with plans. “The Old Reliable” MARKET REPORT MONDAY, OCTOBER 22 The full limit of 2,500 cal ves at last Monday’s special calf auction met a good re ception by buyers at prices generally $1.00 to $1.50 high er than a week ago. A very uniform demand was made for an active sale. Top steer calves at $23.55 with a big percent selling from $21.00 to $23.00. Medium and good kinds cleared more read ily at $19.00 to $20.50. Top on heifer calves $18.25 with $17.25 to $17.75 paid for the bulk, with only a few at $16.00 cwt. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 A light run of 1,200 head sold fully steady with a week ago. Top on 600 lb. steers at $19.65. Heavier yearlings $18.00 to $18.80. Two year olds at $17.00 to $17.50, heifers 25 to 50 cents higher. Cows fully steady at $8.00 to $11.00, de pending on flesh.
