Mr and Mrs. Sis Ebbengaard spent Sunday afternoon with friends at Clearwater. Mr and Mrs. Jerry Tomjaek, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwards and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hahlbeck, Jay Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Huffman and family and his mother, Mrs. Zoe Huffman of Elgin, were luncheon guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Huffman and family at Bassett after attending the Ewing-Bassett football game. Navy BT3 John Black and his brother-in-law, Paul Doud, left Monday for Seattle, Wash. Mr. Black had spent a 30-day leave with relatives. Mr. Doud hopes to find employment. Mrs. Paul Doud entertained a group at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Hessie Butter field had charge of the games. Mrs. Paul Doud and daughter, Linda, were guests on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Treece at Orchard. Sunday evening guests at the home of Mrs. Paul Doud was a schoolmate, Miss Laura Helm ricks. Little Linda Doud was an overnight guest on Wednesday, September 5, at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Black and family. Mrs. Ed Shaw of Orchard ac companied Mr and Mrs. Ed Hoag home from church at Orchard on Sunday and spent the day, returning to her home that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Switzer were guests Wednesday evening. September 12. at the Dewitt C.unter home. They showed pic tures taken by them on trips and family get-togethers. Frontier for printing! _ -i Bethany Ladies Choose Projects AMELIA— Bethany WMS met at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Burnham Friday. Devotions were led by Mrs. Joan Burnham. Officers elected were: Mrs. Kenneth Burnham. president; Mrs. Paul Fisher, vice-president; Mrs. Glen White, stewardship; Mds. Milton Clemens, secretary reasurir. As a project, the group chose to continue remembering two missionaries on their birthday anniversaries, each month. The first study book is to be: “East from Burma" with Mrs. Paul Fisher giving the first les son in October at the home of Mrs. Glen White. The hostess served lunch. Ewing News Mr and Mrs. Harold Cork and ihillren of Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schueth of Ewing were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Walter of | Clearwater. Mr. and Mrs. Cork also went to Neligh to visit Alva Parks, who is in the Neligh hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kresl of Weston were callers on Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Latzel. They were en route to Crawford to visit a few days at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kresl. Mrs. Kittie Fry attended a family gathering at the home of her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Fry, on Sunday. The occas sion was in honor of Mr. Fry’s birthday anniversary. Mrs. Kittie Fry accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Z. H, Fry to Inman on Sunday, September 9, to visit at the home of Mr and Mrs. Otto Rctke. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Grim went to Creighton on Friday evening to visit his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Grim, who has employment there. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hobbs re turned home Wednesday eve ning, September 12, from a busi ness trip which took them into Wyoming. Mrs. William Hobbs and chil dren accompanied by Mrs. L. A. Hobbs went to O’Neill on Thurs day afternoon. The children had i dental checkup and the ladies did some shopping. Jim Clinch of Creighton spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Larsen recently. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Larsen recently. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. A no - hostess dinner was served and the afternoon hours spent informally. An officers' meeting of the WSCS was held Wednesday, September 12, at the Ewing Methodist church parlors. The new ruling made by the con ference was presented by Mrs. Ralph Eacker, president and Mrs. Henry Fleming. Quarterly reports were made by the secre taries. Lunch was served by Mrs. Fleming assisted by Mrs. Jessie Angus and Mrs. Will Con ner. Miss Ina Bennett spent Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Flora Young, and family at Orchard. Miss Ina Bennett was a 6 o' clock dinner and evening guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bennett. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wea ver of Pontiac, 111., Mr. and Mrs. William Shrader, Eddie and Al ice of Orchard, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Morrow and family of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. William Spence took their son, Lyle, to Lincoln on Sunday. He will attend the University of Nebraska this year. Mrs. James Rotherham accom panied the Spence family and met her son, Ronald, there. Ron ald is also a college student at the university this year. Mr. and Mrs. Spence and Mrs. Rotherham attended open house and the cof fee hour held at the student union, the same day, honoring al’ freshmen and their parents. Ludwig Koenig and son, Bob, were also among the guests from Ewing. Mrs. Anna Pollock enjoyed a short visit with her sister and husband and other friends of Gordon on their return Wednes day, September 12, from the state fair. Leaders are Mr. and Mrs. Milton Clemens. Bud Clemens, Janette and Don nie took the beeves to Norfolk on Tuesday, September 11. Mrs. Milton Clemens, Lois and Robert Burge went to Norfolk the next day for tile show and sale. Pine Grove Hustlers Complete Records— AMELIA—Pino Grove Hustlers 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. William Thompson after school last Thursady. Eight members answered roll call by naming a kitchen utensil. The remainder of the meeting was spent completing record books and filling out 0-10-0 forms.
