T»p Baby P:d Brings 31c Pound Tony Wewel Winner in Judging STUART—One hundred forty one head of livestock were on exhibition at tbe annual 4-H club tri-county stock show and sale held here Saturday, August 25. The entries included 67 dairy calves, 42 stocker-feeder calves, 20 breeding heifers, 16 baby beeves and six Iambs. Tony Wewel of Newport re ceived the permanent trophy as top judge in the beef cattle judg ing with Robert (“Bob”) Beel aert of Page, second; Gene Cos grove of Bassett, thiad, and Je rome Cosgrove of Bassett and Te : tsa Wewel of Newport, tied for fourth This group will receive ar expense-free trip to a centr »1 market. The showmanship trophy went to Brenda Beelaert of Page with Sharon Miner of O’Neill a close second. The trophy for best club group of three baby beeves went to the Diamond Valley club of Newport with no competition. The trophy for best club group of three stocker-feeder calves also went to the Diamond Valley club. These three trophies must be won three consecutive times for permanent possession. Mary Clair Gilg of Atkinson won first place in the dairy judg ing contest with Margie Gilg of Atkinson, second; Janice Crumly of Page, third, and Annette Giv ens of Stuart, fourth. Only three baby beeves were offered for sale at the auction with the highest price paid by I>waine Lockmon of Stuart fo a steer at 31 cents per pound. The Cleary brothers of Atkinson pur chased a steer at 30 cents, and Wayne Galyen of Atkinson paid 27 cents per pound for a heifer. Some of the other baby beeves will be shown at the state fair. All animals were judged and given blue, red and white plac ings. HIXON A JUDGE CHAMBERS — Vernon Hixon, former resident of the Chambers community, judged the cattle at the Antelope county fair in Ne ligh Saturday, August 25.
