Schutte - Patton Marriage Lines Read at Mitchell The First Methodist ehurch of Mitchell, S.D., was the setting Thursday evening, June 28, for the wedding of Miss Sylvia Dale Schutte of Mitchell and Lee Douglas Patton of Denver, Colo. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schutte of Mitchell and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Patton o f O’Neill. Reverend Herbst of Mitchell read the lines of the double-ring candlelighted ceremony before an altar ap [jointed with greenery of baby breath and pink roses. Tradition al wedding music was played and Miss Barbara Rollins sang “The Wedding Prayer” and "Through ihe Years.” Given in marriage by her la ther, the bride approached the altar in a full-length gown of Duponi silk. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a low square neckline outlined with a lace ap plique, and long sleeves tapered to points over her wrists. Her fingertip veil of illusion was caught by a pearl tiara and she carried a bouquet of pink baby roses on a white Bible . Miss Patti Fletcher of Mitchell was maid-of-honor. The Misses Joanne Test and Kay Westby of Mitchell were bridesmaids. They appeared in identical waltz length gowns of pale pink lace in a princess style, featuring a low square necklines. They wore short veils held by tiaras. Mist Leslie Sue Eaton of Ar vada, Colo., flowergirl, wore a pale pink organdy frock. Jeff Eaton of Arvada was ringbearer. He wore a white dinner jacket I with dark trousers. Both arc cou sins of the bridegroom. A L. Patton served as bestman for his son Wayne Schutte, broth er of the bride, and David John son of Mitchell ushered. The bridegroom and attendants wore white dinner jackets with pink carations boutonnieres and dark trousers. Following the ceremony, a re ception was given by the bride’s parents for 150 guests at the Methodist church parlors. After a wedding trip through the Black Hills, the couple will make their home at 1275 Clark son, Denver 18, Colo. For travel ing, the bride wore a navy silk sheath dress with white and pink accessories. Mrs. Patton was graduated from Mitchell high school and attend ed the University of Colorado. She .was a member of the Delta Delta Delta social sorority. She is employed by the Silver State : Savings and Loan in Denver. Mr. Patton attended Goodland high school at Goodland, K a n s . , and also the Colorado School f Mines. He was affiliated with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the School of Mines. He was to return to school July 9. He is also employed bv the Stanolind Gas & Oil Co. of' Denver ‘Christmas’ Party to Be H e 1 d PAGE—Mrs. Robert Van Horn and Mrs. Merwyn French, jr., were hostesses to the members of the King’s Daughters society on Tuesday evening, July 3, at the church basement. The patriotic theme was carried out in table decorations. Mrs. Roger Bowen led the de votions and Mrs. Ivan Heiss the lesson, “Scattering the Seed in Brazil.” Mrs. Merwyn FYench, jr., sang “The Green Cathedral.” Merna Heiss played a piano solo. Year books were handed out. Twenty-five dollars was voted toward supply work and $20 toward the expense of those at ending MYF camp at Ponca. A summer Christmas party will feature the August 7 meet ing at the church basement when members of the WSCS will be guests of the King’s Daughters. Each member will bring gifts ap propriate for Christmas gifts for children. These will be sent to missions redistribution centers. Cal Geary of Lyons arrived on Monday, July 2 He expects to remain until the hay crop is in the stack. Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Cary left Sunday evening for Iowa where they will visit in the homes of their sons. John and Chester, and their daughter, Mrs. Vernon Krouse. Mr. and Mrs Bob Hutton and family of Omaha came Monday evening, July 2. to spend the Fourth of July with his parents. Mr and Mrs. T D. Hutton. Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Hartigan and Mr James Coventry- were Norfolk visitors Monday, July 2. Mr. and Mrs. M M. Crossor and sons of Tekamah spent July 4 here visiting relatives. Their niece, Mary Morsbach, who spent the past three weeks in Tekamah in the Grosser home, returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Tomp kins, who spent the past week in New Orleans, La., attending the lurisdiclional conference of the Methodist church, returned home lay evening, July 3. Miss Judy Rickel of Neligh spent several days last week vis iting in the Harvey Tompkins home. Mrs. Lyle (Ruth) Jackson of St. Paul, Minn., arrived here Wednesday, July 4, to spend several days visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. C. Kelley, and other relatives. Mrs. Cora Caldwell left Friday for her home in Utica. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. H. A. Tompkins, and sons, Allen and Neal. They returned I home Saturday. Mrs. Caldwell ; expects to leave in about a week for a month’s visit in Klamouth Falls, Ore. Mrs Marye Hartigan, Mrs. T. | | D. Charles and Gary' Butterfield, who have been employed at the Ak-Sar-Ben race track in Om aha for the past four weeks, re-; turned home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clark of Indianapolis, Ind., arrived on Sunday for a visit with relatives. The Clark family expects to meet here this week for a family re union. Between 60 and 65 are ex pected. Mr. and Mrs Graydon Harti gan left Sunday for Norfolk where they will make their home j and he will be employed by the ! telephone company. Mrs. Ivan Couch, son. Gene, and [ daughter, Conda, left Sunday for Auburn to join Mr. Couch, who ,s employed there on a construc tion job. Miss Gaylene Anthony spent last Thursday night in O’Neill as a guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allendorfer. Mrs James Coventry went to Pickstown, S.D., Sunday where she attended a family reunion of 1 the H. W. Tomlinson family. Miss Linelle Tompkins spent the weekend in Neligh with her friend, Miss Judy Rickel. James E. Kelley of Omaha came Friday (or a short visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Kelley, and other relatives. The Kelley family is moving from the Ak-Sar-Ben race meet in Omaha to Madison where the races be gan Tuesday. Book Review Will Feature Silver Tea PAGE— Mrs. Alton Braddock led the devotions and the lesson. "Scattering Seeds in Brazil," last Thursday when the mem bers of the WSCS met at the church basement for an after noon of work and study. Plans were discussed for a sil \er tea, an annual affair, to be held on July 19 with the Inman and Orchard societies as guests of the Page group. A silver of fering will be taken Mrs. Hen ry Canonberg of Bassett will review a book. Mrs R. F. Park and Mis. John Lamasou were hostesses. Three-Hour Course Scheduled— "Every Teacher’s Problems”, education 52, a three - hour course from the Universoty of Nebraska, will convene for the first class and registration at 9 a.m., August 3, at the O’Neill public school. Anyone who earned credit in education 31, "Foundations of Modern Education”, should not plan to take the class as there is some repetition in the mater ial covered, according to Alice L. French, county superinten dent. The class will meet 15 days, terminating on Monday, August 20. Visit at Columbus— Mr and Mrs. John DeWitt spent the Fourth of July in Co lumbus. Riverside News Mr and Mrs. George Mont gomery called at the Rol Hord home Tuesday evening, July 3. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Pollock and Phil of Omaha spent a week at the Dave Pollock home and visited relatives at Neligh %nd around Clearwater. Mrs. Pollock visited Maisie and Mabel Philip on Tuesday, July 3, and Mrs. Leona Johnson on Thursday. Mr and Mrs. Lynn Fry and family. Mr and Mrs. Lorraine Montgomery and family ate Sunday dinner at the Wayne Fry home. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Napier and girls visited Sunday eve ning. July 1, at the Lynn Fry home. Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Sehlotman called at the Lionel Gunter hon*e Friday evening. A friend and navy buddy of Bill Lofquest visited at the Lof quist home Sunday. He was from Vermillion, S.D. Mr. and Mrs Bill Fry visited at the Albert Larson home Fri day ewening. A birthday anniversary was celebrated Thursday. Alice Mil ler was the honored guest. Others present were Mrs. Bert Fink, Mrs. Howard Miller, Mrs. Grant Mott, Mrs. James Pollock, Daisy Miller, Mrs. Melvin Na i pier and Carol Ann. Mrs. Miller received several gifts.
