Grace Merryman at 87th Milestone PAGE—Miss Grace Merryman i eceived 25 guests during the day Monday. June 11. which was the occasion of her 87th birthday . nniversary She received many Ixmquets of flowers and other gifts. Miss Merryman has been a resident of the Page community since* 1910 and of the town of Page since 1925. Other Page News Mr and Mrs. Melvin Kemper and children of Norfolk were Sunday visitors in the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Winkler, at Emmet. The group went to Ft. Randall dam for the day. Mrs. Dora Townsend was a guest on Friday afternoon when the Just-a-Mere club was enter tained at a 2:30 dessert luncheon at the home of Mrs Carrie Town send. Rook proved to be the af ternoon's interest, or just visiting as the guests preferred. Mrs. Hat tie Carson will entertain June 22 Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Whitaker of Chambers, Mrs. Adolph Zeller of Poole, Mrs. Annie Schwasin ger, Mrs. Norman Samway and daughter, Frances, and Pat Cu sik. all of Kearney, and Mr. and Mrs. Neven Ickes, jr., and chil dren were Sunday dinner guests in the N. D Ickes, sr , home The occasion was the Ickes' sixth wedding anniversary as well as a family gathering in honor of the Buffalo county visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stevens report that Crissie, one of the sev en children of their daughter, Mrs. John Emerson of Charles City, la., has scarlet fever and the family is quarantined. The Stevens were about to pay them a visit which will have to be postponed. Fred Lemkuhl of Sioux City and his brother, Albert of Hadar, came to the home of their sister, Mrs. Rose Chichester, Monday, June 4. They returned to Page Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Madsen and children of Ocheyedan, la., arrived Sunday afternoon for a few days’ visit with her mother, Mrs. Emma Canaday, and other relatives. Members of the Chatter-Scw and their families held their an nual picnic at the Page park on Sunday evening. All families were represented except one. Mrs. Annie Schwasinger, Mrs. Norman Samway and daughter, Frances, Pat Cusik of Kearney and Mrs. Adolph Zeller of Poole were weekend guests in the N. D. Iekes, sir., home and they and Mrs Iekes were Saturday eve ning visitors in the Soren Soren sen, jr., home near Star. Doug Horrocks of Tilden and Miss Twila Riley of Pierce were Friday evening visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Riege. Mr. Horrocks is a nephew of Mrs. Riege. Mrs. Lloyd Fusselman was a Thursday to Sunday visitor in the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Mauer, at Genoa. Mr. Fusselman went there for her on Sunday. Miss Maude Martin returned Sunday from Hannibal, Mo., where she had spent the past two weeks in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis, and family. Dick and Eva Cunningham met her at O'Neill. Gary Waller of O’Neill accom panied his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Snell, to Pelham, Minn., on a week’s fishing trip. They returned Sunday evening, report ing a “nice” catch. Everette Secrist and his moth er, Mrs. Ada Secrist, of Pierce ville, Kans., were afternoon vis itors of Mr. .and Mrs. N. D. Iekes and Miss Grace Merryman at tire Merryman home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French, jr., entertained the following guests Sunday evening at a picnic supper: Mr. and Mrs. Alton Braddock, Mrs. Lou Heiss, Mrs. Jennie French and Miss Alice French of O’Neill. Raymond Heiss, past lay lead er, had charge of the morning services at the Methodist church in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Lisle Mewmaw, who was attend ing conference at Fremont. Mrs. Elmer Trowbridge, lay delegate and president of the WSCS. re ported on the conference, Tues day through Thursday, June 5-7. Osenbaugh was hon ored last Thursday to celebrate her birthday anniversary. All her children were home for the first time all together sipce 1950. Coming Wednesday, .June 6, were her daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hilderhoff, and children of Bing ham and Mrs. May belle Ericksen and children of Mullen. Also present were her sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Osen baugh of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. John Osenbaugh, and chil dren of Burwell. Five grandchildren are staying with the Osenbaughs for a visit. In Wedding Party in Iowa— PAGE — Marilyn Terrill was bridesmaid and her brother, Jer ry of Marion, Ind., was soloist for tluir cousin, Janice Terrill’s wedding to Alvin Larson. Friday, June 8, at Albert City, la., at the Evangelical Free church at a 7:30 ceremony. Both Mr. and Mrs. Larson are residents of Rem brandt, la., and the bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Terrill. Miss Shelly Lloyd of Sa lina, Kans., accompanied the Ter rills to Page for the weekend. Admission of Patients Described— St. Anthony's hospital auxili ary met Monday evening at the hospital. After the business was cleared and sewing checked in, Sr. M. Delores gave a report on the procedure of keeping the pa tients records in a hospital. Mrs. F. N. Cronin and Mrs. Ray Bosn served refreshments. Next meeting will be Monday, September 3. There will be no meetings in July or August. ... Klkhoro Club to Meet June 29— EMMET—'The Elkhorn Valley 4-H club met at the Mary Lew is home Friday, June 1. Roll call was answered with “Where We Would Like to Go on a Vacation.” Four members were absent. We discussed club camp at Halsey and grass judging day, which will be in O’Neill. Annette Schaaf received her new materi als lor this year. Maureen Schaaf gave a demonstration on making pie crust. The sewing girls met at the Elmer Schaaf home and the big girls cut out and sewed blouses. The smaller girls worked on luncheon cloths. Herbert Kaiser's Mother Is 111— Herbert Kaiser and daughter, Miss Esther, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson and daughters, Barbara and Brenda, of Atkinson to Casper. Wyo., Fri day night to visit Herbert’s moth er, Mrs. Sadie Kaiser, who is seriously ill in a hospital there. They also visited Herbert’s two sisters, Mrs. Treamon Stevens and Mrs. Ralph Bower, and their families; also Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kaiser, who came to Casper from Worland, Wyo., where Leon is employed. Herbert and Esther returned Monday evening. Bride-to-Be Is Honored— Mesdames James Conway, Bill Murray. John Jensen, Bob Gal lagher, Clarence Gokie and Miss Clara Conway entertained Tues day evening at the KC hall at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Barbara Cleary, who will be married to Richard Loock of Spencer on Monday, June 25, at St. Patrick’s Catholic church. Those assisting Miss Cleary with opening the gifts were Mrs. Crippen of Atkinson, and the Misses Bonnie Burival, Janice Turner, Charlene Mahony and Sharon Murray. Refreshments were served. Visit Columbus— Mrs. John DeWitt and children spent last week in Columbus visiting relatives. While there she accompanied S/Sgt. James and Mrs. Langan and daughter, Mary Jane, to Omaha from where they left for New York. The Langans flew Sunday from there to England where Sergeant Langan will be stationed few three years. ATKINSON — Jerry Hickman returned Monday to Keesler air base, Biloxi. Miss., after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank lin Hickman. He is attending radar school. Ewing News Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dierks have leceived word that their son, Merton Dierks of Smoky Hill air base, Salina, Kans., has been promoted to first lieutenant. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dierks and daughter, Sandra, went to Omaha Wednesday, June 6, where they attended the baccalaureate ser vice that evening and the com mencement exercises on Thurs day at St. Catherine’s school of nursing. Their daughter, Miss Mary Alys, was a member of the graduating class. Miss Mary Alys Dierks, accom panied by Mrs. Bernice Harlan and son, Charles, recently visit ed her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dierks. Mrs.. Harlan and son were^ guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Caroline Sanders. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kusek and children, accompanied by their brother, Dean Kimes, returned to their home at David City after spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Hazel Kimes, and sons. Mr. and Mrs. James Conway and daughter of Denver, Colo., recent ly returned from Cleveland, O., where they were guests at the home of his parents for a three weeks’ vacation. Tuesday they went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bartak. They plan to spend the week visiting friends.
