Major Cleanup Job in Progress RLDS Church Gets Attention INMAN—The members of the RLDS church have been doing a major clean-up job on their hurch building and yard the past two Saturdays The building has received a new coat of paint. Those taking part include: Mr. and Mrs. Francis Schrunk and on of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schrunk and family, Mrs John Andrus and two children, Mrs Roy Ries and Debbi^, John Schrunk and Mrs Ina Roth, all of Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Gaines Rzeszotarski and family of Em met and other members from O' Neill, Page, Clearwater and In man. Other Inman News Mr and Mrs. David Morsbach and girls and Helen Sobotka spent Sunday in Clearwater and Ne ligh visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. Pete Cooper and son of Orchard were Sunday afternoon callers in Inman. Vacation church school started in the Methodist church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock. Classes for children between the ages of three and 15 are being held for seven morning sessions. The theme for the church schools this summer is “Our Bible.” Handwork, songs, stories and les sons along this theme will be worked out in all classes. Dave Mummert of Blair spent Saturday and Sunday in the home of Mr and Mrs. Harvey A. Tompkins. Mr. Mummert is the treasurer of the annual conference board of trustees of which Mr. Tompkins is the executive sec reiary. The piano student* of Mrs. Harvey Tompkins presented a piano recital at the Methodist church Sunday evening. The fol lowing students took part: Lois and Mary Morsbach, Marilyn Siders, Patty Morrow, Linelle and Roger Tompkins, Kay Kelley, Lyle and Garnett Gillogly, Don na and Vera Dell Barlow, Lor raine Butterfield, Keith Kivett and Kay Nielsen. Ned Kelley and Sam Watson were ushers. The young adult fellowship met in the church last Thursday eve ning. The Inman Commercial club met Monday night for a regular session with a 7 o’clock chicken dinner at the Coffee shop, served by Mrs. Charles Luben and Mrs. Ben Cunningham. After dinner they went to the Watson hay of fice for a regular meeting. The Inman consolidated school ! closed Friday with a community ! picnic. A baseball game was en joyed in the afternoon Mrs. Elizabeth Ticknor has re turned to her home in Denver, Colo., after spending several days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs George Laney. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Retke have returned home'after spending the past nine months in Euphrates, Wash., with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Smith, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sobotka and infant are spending several days in the home of John Sobotka and Harold. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins visited from Friday until Monday it the home of their son and daughter-in-law. Dr and Mrs. Charles A. Tompkins. Miss Edith Gallagher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, James P. Galla gher, was among the seniors who graduated from St. Mary’s acad i my in O’Neill Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Nielsen have been transferred from Grand Island to O’Neill. Harlan works for the telephone company They spent the weekend in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Keyes have received word that their son, Ce cil. has arrived in the U.S. from overseas. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Smith were Norfolk visitors Sunday evening. Tomlinson Aided: Surprised— INMAN—Wednesday, May 16. about 10 neighbors and several nf their wives came to the Arthur Tomlinson farm 3U miles south of town and plowed and planted about 55 acres of corn ground. Mr. Tomlinson has not boon well for several months. On Friday evening, a group of friends surprised Mr. Tomlinson in honor of his birthday anniver sary. Bridge furnished the enter tainment, after which lunch was served by the self-invited guests. INMAN — The Inman Com munity club is sponsoring a west ern comedy. “They' Went Thata way,” in three acts on Friday evening, May 25, at the high school gymnasium. The play is presented by Holt county Rural Youth. The proceeds will go toward buying play ground equipment for the park. Rosalie Spittler, Robert Bartak Wed in Church Ceremony EWING — Rosalie Spittler, and Robert Bartak were married Wednesday, May 16 in a 9:30 a.m. double-ring ceremony at St. Peter’s Catholic church in Ewing. Rev. P. F Burke officiated. A. E. Spittler, uncle of the bride, was organist. “Avc Maria” and other selections were sung by the church choir. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Spittler and Mr. and Mrs. Stan ley Bartak. The bride wore a ballerina length gown. The fitted bodice of net with lace inserts over white ! satin featured a high neckline and long sleeves. The bouffant skirt had inserts of lace above a nylon pleated flounce. Her fingertip ; veil of illusion net was held in i place by a pearl tiara. She wore | a three-strand pearl necklace, a gift from the bridegroom. Her bouquet, a cascade of red rose I buds and lilies-of-the-valley with : streamers, was carried on a white ! satin prayer book. Geraldine Rotherham, maid-of honor, and Bernadine Rotherham, . bridesmaid, wore identical gowns of yellow and blue net over taf feta and matching headpieces. Their bouquets were white car nations with yellow and tolue set tings. Jack Bartak was bestman. Dr. Leo Spittler of Norfolk was groomsman. Ushers were Martin Pofahl and Sam Regan. All wore light grey business suits with wh#te carnation boutonnieres. At 12 o’clock, the bridal party of 30 was served a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Regan. The bride’s parents w’ere hosts. The reception was held in the afternoon at the parlors of St. John’s church. The young couple left for a ' trip to Denver, Colo. The bride 1 chose for traveling a beige dress with white accessories. Mrs. Bartak is a graduate of I he Ewing high school, class of j 1955. She lias been employed at 1 the Farmers State bank in Ew ng. Mr. Bartak, who is in the army, is stationed at Ft. Mr. and Mrs. James Platt spent Monday, May 21. fishing at Ft. Randall dam. A group of the Methodist Youth Fellowship plan a roller skating party Tuesday evening at Neligh. Those to take cars are Rev. A life membership pin was present ed to Mrs. Harold Seger. Re freshments were served by the hostess. Next meeting in June will be a picnic. Vegetable Plate Is Studied— The Prairie Maids 4-H club met Tuesday, May 15, at the home of Jcri Coday. Twelve members were present. During the summer, meetings will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month. We will learn the 4-H club pledge and motto. Some of the girls brought biscuits they had baker and some brought apple and rhubarb crisp. Our leader. Mrs. Wayne Smith dem onstrated how to make a vege table plate. At the next meet ing the girls will bring some baking and their lunch clothes on which they are working. The meeting will be at the home of Barbara Barthel on June 26. Roger Dobias was high with 10 ribbons, having entered 10 events. These included eight firsts, one tie for first and one ! second place award. Upon com pletion of his leave, he will re port to Norfolk, Va., where he will board a cruiser bound for France. He will leave on Satur day, Mav 26, which will be on his 20th birthday anniversary. Brigden officiated at the S o’clock double-ring ceremony. Miss Joellyne Eacker sang “Be cause” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” j Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pruden and Mr and Mrs. Richard M. Burtwistle, all of Ewing. The bride wore a gown of V hite lace, fashioned with a fit led strapless bodice topped by a short lace bolero jacket with tapering sleeves. The floor-length - kirt. was designed of tiers of lace ruffles. Her finger-tip veil of illusion was held by a lace head bandeau studded with orange blossoms and she carried a white orchid surrounded by lilies-ol the-valle.v. Her jewelry was a cameo which had belonged to her 1 great-grandmother. Mrs. Buford Carlson of Orchard was matron-of-honor and Mrs. Alvin Wagner of Omaha and Mrs. John Pruden of Ewing were bridesmaids.
