Farm Problems Discussed by Group AMELIA—The WSCS met on Wednesday, March 28, at the home of Mrs. Ed White. There were 11 members present. Mrs. George Fullerton took charge of the devotionals in the absence of Mrs. Margie Sammons, who was ill. • Mrs. Blake Ott presented a dis cussion on the farm problem. Mrs. Blackmore and Mrs. Ma mie Sammons served the luncheon of ice cream and cake. Other Amelia News Mr. and Mrs. Harold Humrich and daughter of O’Neill visited Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clemens on Sunday. Dean and Lynn Prewitt called at Clifford Clemens’ Sunday af ternoon. Mrs. Alice Prewitt, Janice and Sharon were shopping in O’Neill Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Ott and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees drove to Pickstown, S.D., on Sunday, March 25, and did some fishing. Blake landed the one and only fish — an 11-pound pike which he now has in the deep freeze as proof. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fisher went to McPherson, Kans., last Thurs day, returning home the same day. The girls, who are attend ing school there, came home for their Easter vacation. Mrs. Glenn White and Venita planned to take them back Monday. Band Mothers Sponsor Program PAGE—The program featured a talent show Tuesday evening, March 28, when the Band Moth ers entertained band members, their families and members of the faculty. Five groups were in com petition. Winners were decided by applause. First place was given a men’s quartet— Melvin Smith, Harold Freemyer, Glen Harris and Earl. Parks with a barber shop rendi tion of “Church in the Wild wood,” “Simple Melody” and “Melody of Love.” Second place went to a group of grade children with a hill billy band. About one hundred attended the pot-luck supper at 6:30. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Merriman spent Easter in Schuyler. New Cage Coach William L. Edwards (above), who has been athletic coach at Coleridge high school the past two years, has been signed as O’Neill high school basketball coach. A Wayne college gradu ate, he was a first lieutenant in the marines during the Korean war. He is married and is the father of two children. Edwards succeeds Elmer Murman. Chambers News Norman Walter, who attends a seminary in St. Louis, Mo., and his fiancee, Miss Donna King of Hoisington, Kans., spent Easter vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Walter. Sunday guests in the J. W. Walter home were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brion and boys of Neligh. Mrs. Genevieve Bell returned to Neligh Monday after spending several days at her home in Chambers. Mary Taggart, nurse at the Uni versity hospital in Omaha, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Taggart, and family. Richard Harley arrived i n Chambers Friday from Fontana, Calif., where he had completed 10 weeks of radar schooling. The family left for Paine air force base, Everett, Wash., where he will be employed as a technical advisor to the military by Gili fillin Electronics company of Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Starr and family of Grand Island spent Eas ter with his mother, Mrs. Nellie Starr. C. V. Robertson drove to Hol brook last Thursday to bring his wife home. Walter, who had visited her parents and other rel atives at Arapahoe since Tuesday, May 27, accompanied them home. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cone and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klingler went to Yankton, S.D., Monday to visit Mrs. F. H. Feldman, a former schoolmate of Mrs. Kling ler. The two couples returned on Tuesday.
