SOBOTKA—Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sobotka of Norfolk, a daughter Carol Beatrice, weighing 7 pound; 11 ounces, born Wednesday March 14, in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Norfolk. Mrs. Sobotka is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Frank Jauernig of Stuart. Mr. So botka is the son of John Sobotke of Inman and the late Mrs. So botka. Regional Deaths Andrew Monson AINSWORTH— Andrew Mon eon, 39, economist for the bureau of reclamation and former Mad ison county agent, died at 1 a.m, Tuesday, March 20, of a heart at tack. i Survivors: Widow; daugh ter—Paula; son—Tyler; mother. Frank Reed VERDEL—Frank Reed, 57, Ver del bachelor, Sunday, March 18, . ended his own life by hanging. He lived alone. A note left behind stated he was in ill health. Sur vivors include two brothers and several sisters. © 1 Sick & Injured O’NEILL— Jimmy Cavanaugh, 15, who had submitted to an op eration in St. Anthony’s, is home and “doing fine.” . . Jimmie Best, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Best, Tuesday, March 13, underwent an appendectomy at St Anthony’s hospital. He returned home Sat urday. . . Theodore Strong under went surgery at the McCleary clinic at Excelsior Springs, Mo., Friday. His sister, Bessie Klingler, also submitted to surgery there. Mrs. Strong acompanied them. They expect to be patients for about 14 days or more. . . Mrs. Joe Hansen of Norfolk, the for mer Kathleen Flood of O’Neill, is a patient in a Norfolk hospital. She is “good.” . . . Mrs. Ben Oet ter was sick with influenza this week. . . Mrs. J. Olen Kennell was called to Peoria, 111., Sunday by the death of an aunt and the serious illness of her mother. Dwight Harder took her to Oma ha. . . W. H. (“Bill”) Bowker en tered the Veterans hospital at Grand Island on Wednesday. CHAMBERS—Mrs. Vern Wil kenson underwent major surgery at St. Anthony’s hospital last Thursday. . . E. V. Sageser was a patient in St. Anthony is hospital several days last week. He re turned home Sunday. . . Mrs. Victor Harley came home Friday from St. Anthony’s hospital where she had spent a few days j due to pneumonia. . . Mrs. Chet I Fees, sr., was taken to St. An thony’s hospital last week for a few days’ medical care. . . Fred Catron returned last week from the Lutheran hospital in Norfolk following major surgery. . . Mrs. Willard Thomson took her grand mother, Mrs. H. W. Tomlinson of O’Neill, to Norfolk Tuesday, March 20, to consult a doctor. . . Doreen Gleed is a patient at St. Anthony’s hospital with pneu monia. EWING — Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoag came from Omaha on Sat urday. Mr. Hoag, who underwent surgery a few weeks ago has been convalescing at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hoag, and fam ily, who brought them to Ewing. Mr. Hoag is rapidly regaining his health. . . Joe Hintz is a patient at St. Anthony’s hospital in O’ Neill. He is suffering from a heart ailment. . . Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hahlbeck and Floyd Tucker, accompanied by Mrs. Sievers Tisshamer of Neligh, went to Grand Island on Thurs day where they visited Mrs. Hahlbeck’s uncle, Ed Shobe, and Mr. Hahlbeck’s brother, Harry j Hahlbeck, who are patients at the | Veterans hospital. EMMET —Mrs. McConnell is quite ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Puckett, in Atkinson. . . Mrs. Joe Winkler has been ill with influenza the past week . . Minnie O’Connell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John O’Connell, had an operation Sat urday evening. . . Mrs. George Pongratz returned home after vis iting her brother, Max Babl, in a Norfolk hospital. . . Mrs. William Grothe received word that her brother, Ed Roth of Lincoln, had undergone serious surgery Friday morning. LYNCH— Harold Hargens re turned to his home in Spencer Sunday, March 11. He had sub mitted to surgery at Sacred Heart hospital. . . Mrs. Leonard Hav ranek and Mrs. Audrey Compton are Sacred Heart hospital patients. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Carl Frisch cafne from Winnetoon last Thurs day to get their infant son, Carl, jr, who was dismissed from the Sacred Heart hospital. . . Mrs. Vac Jedlicka has been under a doctors’ care the past 10 days. She is able to sit up part of each day. ORCHARD — Miss Thelma Drayton was able to leave a Lin coln hospital last week. . . John Stelling came home from a hos pital at Norfolk. . . William Mitchell has been ill at his home at Orchard. . . Mrs. Pete Cooper becme ill re cently and was taken to St. Jo seph hospital at Sioux City. She underwent surgery. VENUS—Mrs. Ora Caskey re turned to her home on Tuesday, March 13, from St. Anthony’s hospital, O’Neill, where she had been a patient since Saturday, March 10. . . Mrs. Herman Dorr has been suffering with an ear infection. . . “Grandma” Evans was quite ill Saturday and is un der a doctor’s care. INMAN — Mr. and Mrs. Fred Moore, Reginald and Haddon Geary drove to Sioux City Fri day morning to visit Cal Geary, a patient at St. Joseph’s hospital, who underwent major surgery that morning. Reports from the hospital are to the effect that he is “improving satisfactorily.” DELOIT—Lee Allen Parks vis ited the dentist at Neligh on Fri day. . . Ewalt Spahn consulted the doctor in Neligh on Saturday. . . . Carolyn Potter had an opera tion for appendicitis in the O’ Neill hospital on Friday. Carolyn is in the eighth grade at the Deloit school. AMELIA—Mrs. Juliana Kamp haus, who has been seriously ill in the O’Neill hospital for many weeks, was able to leave the hos pital one day last week and go to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Duane Summers near O’Neill. ROCK FALLS — Mrs. Don Hynes and Mrs. George Calkins were in Norfolk last Thursday where Mrs. Calkins consulted a doctor. RIVERSIDE— Vincent Vander snick was ill Friday and under a doctor’s care. He expected to re turn to school Tuesday. CELIA — 11 e n e Johnson of Washington, who is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Hans Lauridsen, and family, has chicken pox. | Club Meets— Merri Myx club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. 1 Fred O. Robertson. * Atkinson Hospital to Receive Table ROCK FALLS— Pleasant Day club met Wednesday, March 14, at the home of Mrs. Henry Ve ouist with all but three members present. Visitors were Mrs. Orville Morrow, Mrs. Sam Derickson and Mrs. Jim Moss. A noonday lunch was served, followed by a brief business meet ing during which it was voted that the club donate two bedside tables to Atkinson Memorial hos The remainder of the afternoon was devoted to playing progres sive pitch with high scores going to Mrs. Lyle Vequist and Mrs. Morrow. Lunch was served. Other Rock Falls News Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz and children were afternoon visitors at the Don Hynes home Sunday. The Lyle Vequist family, at tended the Eagle Ceek 4-H club meeting Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Benson and Chris were visitors there also. The Lou Brown family enjoyed a 15-round boxing match on TV at the Henry Vequist home Wed nesday, March 14. Mr.' and Mrs. Wesley Taylor, Norman and Barbara were Tues day evening visitors at the Sam Derickson home. Mrs. Kathryn Yantzie and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Derickson and boys went to Norfolk last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Benson and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Benson were supper guests and spent the evening Monday, March 12, at the James Curran home. Mr. and Mrs. William Claussen called at the John Grutsch, sr., home in O’Neill Tuesday, March 13. Mrs. Floyd Johnson and Linda visited with Mrs. Theresa Breiner and Mrs. Bill Murray on the af ternoon and evening Tuesday, March 13. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Brown were Wednesday, March 14, afternoon visitors at the Don Hynes home and the O. J. Drueke family were evening visitors. Mrs. Albert Widtfeldt called on Mrs. Bill Carroll in Atkinson on Wednesday, March 14. Mrs. Car roll recently broke her arm, the third break for the same limb. Ray Johnson returned from Sioux City where he had visited for several weeks.
