    Happy Girls Club
Sees Demonstrations
AMELIA — The Happy Girls
4-H club met at the home of Beth
and Joyce Watson Saturday after
noon. The president, Gloria
Grimes, and seven members an
swered roll call.
There were two demonstrations.
Gloria Grimes demonstrated how
to straighten material and Mrs.
Widman demonstrated how to
shrink material by using an iron.
Games and songs furnished
recreation. Lunch was served.

Tommie Doolittle and children
were Sunday dinner guests of
Eldon Ballagh and children.
Mrs. Orland Fryrear, who has
been taking the teacher training
course in O’Neill, received the
highest grade in the class, the in
structor announced at Saturday’s
session.
It was erroneously reported in
last week’s items that Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Weigel would be employ
ed at the Charles Peterson ranch.
He is, working at the Lee ranch.
It is understood that Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Hanson, the ranch
foreman and his wife, expect to
build a new home in Atkinson
and Mr. and Mrs. Weigel will
move into the house occupied by
the Hansons.
The George and Harold Fuller
tons moved to their new homes
last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. An
ton Svatos moved to the place
vacated by the Harold Fuller
tons.
Little Scotty Fix is staying with
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Fix, while his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fix of Atkin
son, visited his brother, Gale, and
family at Scottsbluff.
Mrs. Edith Andersen visited her
daughters, Mrs. Bert Newkirk
and Mrs. Dell Kramer, in Lin
coln Tuesday, February 28. Mrs.
Blake Ott was switchboard op
erator.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Dixson and
little nephew, Gale Fix, of Scotts
bluff spent the weekend visiting
her mother, Mrs. Alice Prewitt,
and family over the weekend.
Larry Fix, who has been visiting
the Prewits for some time, re
turned to his home at Scottsbluff
with the Dixsons.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schade were
Amelia callers Monday. They had
spent Sunday visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Sandersen.
Mr. and Mrs. William Fryrear
and Mr. and Mrs. Orland Fryrear
visited Sunday at the Ernest
Gruenborg home near Stuart.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Ragland
and family of Page visited at the
Wade Davis home near Chamt ;rs
Sunday.
J Mrs, Stella Sparks and Lon-.lie
were dinner guests Sunday at the
Gene Hansen home. They all at
tended the show in Atkinson that
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shoe
maker of Chambers visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Schade Tuesday evening, Febru

supper guests at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Adair Sunday eve

Dunk Peterson drove to Lincoln
Sunday afternoon, returning the
early part of the week. Mrs. Pet
erson, who has been helping care
for their new little grandson,
Mark Lee Johnston, the past two
weeks, returned home with him.
Mr. and Mrs. Dunk Peterson
received word that their son, Pvt.
Donald Peterson, who has been
* stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky., has
completed his training there and
expects to be sent to Germany

Mrs. Lindsey and Florence were
dinner guests Sunday at Mrs. Ed
ith Andersen’s. They all attended
services in Chambers that eve
ning.
Mrs. Elsie Doolittle honored her
son, Jimmie, at a birthday dinner
at their home in Chambers Sun
day. Those present were the
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Doolittle, sr., Mr. and Mrs. Art
Doolittle and Dale and Mr. and
Mrs. Marvin Doolittle. It was also
Mrs. Art Doolittle’s birthday an
niversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce and
Mrs. B. W. Waldo were O’Neill
shoppers last Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees at
tended a family dinner at the
Amos Ninham home near Cham
bers Sunday. Mr. Rees’ sister, who
is visitng here from California,
was a special guest.
Mrs. Andy Robak and sons of
Omaha, who spent the past two
weeks visiting her mother, Mrs.
Margie Sammons, while her hus
band was attending an IBM
school, returned to her home in
Omaha Friday. She met Mr. Ro
bak in Norfolk and continued on
their way home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed White and Mr.
and Mrs. Glenn White were O’
Neill callers last Thursday.
Mrs. Lindsey and Florence, ac
companied by Mr. and Mrs.
George Withers, were Chambers
business callers Friday. Mrs. Julia
White took care of the Lindseys’
store.

NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY
GIVEN that at the regular city
election to be held on the 3rd day
of April, 1956, in the City of O’
Neill, Nebraska, there shall be
submitted to the legal voters of
the City the following proposition:
“Shall the City of O’Neill
erect a building on real estate
now owned by said City to be
used as a fire station for the
City, and
“Shall the City of O’Neill
pledge its credit and issue its
negotiable bonds in the prin
cipal amount of Twenty Thou
sand Dollars ($20,000.00) to
provide funds for the erection
of a building for use as a fire
station for the City; the rate of
interest and the maturity of the
bonds to be fixed by the Mayor
and City Council at the time of
their issuance, and
“Shall the City of O’Neill
cause to be levied annually tax
es by valuation on all the tax
able property in the City in ad
dition to other taxes of a rate
and amount sufficient to pay
the interest and principal of
said bonds as the same become
due?”

Mrs. Harry Moss
Dies in Spokane
AMELIA — Relatives have re
ceived word of the death of Mrs.
Harry Moss of Spokane, Wash.
The Mosses were residents of the
Amelia community many years
ago. Mr. Moss is a brother-in-law
of H. S. White of Amelia, and a
brother of Theodore Moss of
1 Chambers and Ira Moss of O’Neill.

at Johnson Home
ROCK FALLS — Mrs. Lowell
Johnson honored Miss Renita
Mott at a prenuptial shower on
Wednesday evening, February 29.
The honored guest received many
gifts. She was married Sunday
afternoon at Verdigre to Arvid
Erb.
Shower guests included Mrs.
John Schultz, Mrs. Floyd Johnson
and Mrs. Alice Johnson of Rock
Falls.

Help in Observance!
INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Wolfe entertained the pupils and
teachers of the Inman high school
at a dinner at their home south
of Amelia on Saturday evening
in honor of their daughter, Jea
nette, who celebrated her birthday
anniversary Wednesday, Febru
ary 29.

The evening was spent socially
and before the guests departed
Mrs. Wolfe served birthday cake
and ice cream. About 25 attended
the party, including Supt. and
Mrs. Gerald Nelson, Mr. Kamm
and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruther,
who helped with the transporta
tion.
HEART RECEIPTS TOLD
INMAN — Total receipts for
the heart fund drive in Inman
are $29.29. Amount paid out for
postage was $2.35, leaving a bal
ance of $27.27 turned over to the
Heart Association of Nebraska by
Mrs. Herbert Nielsen, local chair
man.

Feted in Farewell
EMMET—A farewel party was
held at the Bud Warner home on
Wednesday evening, February 29,
in honor of the Misses Carol Ann
and Shirley Boies, of O’Neill,
who are moving to the West
coast.
