Vern Sageser went to Lincoln Sunday afternoon. Duane Carson and his pupils went to Swan Lake Thursday af ternoon to watch the state men siene fish. The George Fullertons are going to the McGinnis ranch. The WSCS of the Chambers and Amelia Methodist churches met at the home of Mrs. Edith Andersen Monday evening, Jan uary 16, for a study lesson. The Amelia ladies met with the ladies at Chambers on Monday evening, January 23. Mrs. Etta Ott, Mrs. Julia White, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Backhaus were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Lindsey and Florence. Mrs. Back haus, Mrs. Lindsey and Florence were observing anniversaries. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Kennedy are expecting their son, Larry, who has been in Japan, to be home early this spring. Mrs. Stella Sparks and Lonnie and Dick Bilstien attended the show in Atkinson Sunday. They were supper guests at the Jim Bilstien family that evening. Mr. and Mrs. George Enbody and family of Atkinson visited there Sunday evening. Mrs. Edith Andersen called on Mrs. Ralph Rees Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Thomp son were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomp son and Marilyn. The Merry Matrons club met at the home of Mrs. Lee Gilman on Thursday, January 19. Mrs. Clyde Doolittle served as co-hos tess. Sixteen members and two visitors were present. Mrs. George Fullerton and Mrs. Ralph Adair, joined the club. Hostess prizes were won by Mrs. Lew Backhaus and Mrs. Asa Watson. Roll call was answered by telling a new year’s resolution. The February meeting will be with Mrs. Ernest Johnston and Mrs. Lew Backhaus will be cohostess. o O Private Coolidge Enroute to U.S.— AMELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coolidge received word from their son, Pvt. Calvin Coolidge, that he left the army base at Augsburg, Germany, on January 17, and would arrive in New York about February 3. From there he will go to Ft. Sheridan, 111., for his discharge. On his group’s return trip home a stop was to be made at nearby Munich, Germany and the unit was to set sail from Bremerhaven on Wednesday, January 25. He stated it was rumored the contigent might stop at Stover; England, and at a point in Ire land on the way home.
