AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SEWERS AND THEIR UP KEEP AND TO PROVIDE SER VICE CHARGES THEREFOR, COLLECTION THEREOF, AND FOR THE USE OF THE FUNDS RAISED THEREBY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF , THE CITY OF O’NEILL, NE BRASKA: Section 1. A sewer use charge of $.50 per month for each con nection whether direct or indi ' rect is hereby fixed to be charg ed and collected from the owner , of each real estate property in the City of O’Neill having a con nection either directly or indi ’ rectly, to the City sewer system, . whenever said property is occu pied or used. Said charges shall . be collected at the same time and \ in the same manner and enforced in the same manner as the City water charges are collected and by the same officials. Section 2. The revenues from : such charges shall only be used for the abatement or the reduc tion of ad valorem taxes being levied or to be levied for the payment of bonds outstanding, or to be used for the mainten ; ance of existing facilities or the , construction and maintenance of i additions to such sewer system. Section 3. All ordinances and : parts of ordinances passed and i approved prior to the passage ; and approval of this ordinance , and in conflict therewith are hereby repealed. Section 4. Campbell, Ky., and will spend a 15-day leave with his parents. Harold reached St. Paul on Thursday evening and spent un til Friday visiting his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Nielsen, who brought him here on Friday evening. They also re mained for the weekend in the Nielsen home. Harold expects to go to Ger many in the near future. Going to El Toro— Pfc. Duane Devall, who has been here for the past three weeks, will leave soon for El Toro, Calif. He was formerly sta tioned at Memphis, Tenn., where he had been attending electronics school for the past 28 weeks. Bloom Co. . . . monu ments from the factory to the consumer. — Emmett Crabb, O’ Neill, phone 139-J. 37tf Walter Smith, Wife Married 50 Years No Reception Because of Illness STUART—Mr. and Mrs. Walt er Smith quietly observed their 50th wedding anniversary Tues day, November 22, at their home in Stuart. Due to Mrs. Smith’s declining health, plans for the celebration which had been anticipated, were given up. Walter Smith of Logan, la., and Grace Francisco of Missouri Val ley, la., were reared in their re spective communities. It was when Miss Francisco was teaching school in Mr. Smith’s home district the couple became acquainted. They were later married at Council Bluffs, la., on November 22, 1905. On the following December IS they came to Stuart and have spent all the time since in Stu art and vicinity except for one year spent in Keya Paha county. They farmed in the Sand Creek neighborhood for a time and Mr. Smith, still a farmer at heart, [ makes a daily trip to his farm 3% miles northeast of town. The1 place is now occupied by their son, Walter, jr., also known as “Skip.” Mr. Smith has served as coun ty supervisor and at present is serving on the town board of trustees. The Smiths are the parents of six children — Miss Marguerite, Mrs. Donald (Pauline) Schafer, Walter, jr., all of Stuart; Mrs. Ernie (Grace) Smith of Bassett and Mrs. Fred (Jane) Frater of Coatsville, Pa. One daughter, Gladys, died at 2-years-old. They have 10 grand children. Iiunan News The Inman Commercial club met Monday evening at the Cof fee Shop for a 7 o’clock dinner which was followed by the regu lar business meeting. Plans were made to help Santa with his treats again this year. The Inman Workers Project club me't Wednesday, November 16, for a regular meeting at the country home of Mrs. Melvin Lor enz. The group enjoyed a luncheon at noon. Mrs. K. Ff Smith was in charge of the busi-1 ness session after which a lesson on “glamorizing leftovers”, was presented by Mrs. H. E. Smith. The December meeting will be held at the home of Miss Elsie Kruegar and will be the Christ mas lesson and Christmas party. The Inman WSCS met Thurs day afternoon at the Methodist church for a special meeting due to the fact that Thanksgiving falls on their regular meeting day. Mrs. Melvin Lorenz, presi dent, was in charge of the meet ing and the society made plans to purchase new carpet for the church chancel. A no-host lunch was served. The Young Adult Fellowship of the Methodist church met Thurs day evening in the church. Pres ident Donald Keyes was in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Keyes showed slides taken on their wedding trip which took them to Chicago, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, New York, Sta tue of Liberty, Matamoras, Pa., and Washington D.C. Lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. K. F. Smith re cently entertained the Inman school board and their wives at their country home. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Stevens of Page were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Mc Mahan on Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Leo P. Mossman left Friday for Lawrence, Kans., where they will spend a month visiting in the home of their son in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Gillahan and family. Don Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kelley, who attends Norfolk Junior college in Nor folk, spent the weekend in the home of his parents. Don made the “first 10” in the. tryout for basketball at the college. ______ Tuttle, Tomlinson Among Enlistees The following recent army en- i listments at the O’Neill recruiting I station, announced by Sfc. Tom linson of O’Neill, for airplane me canic school. Selecting branch assignment in the army were: Floyd P. Myers of Elsmere, for ordnance corps; Harry E. Sage, jr. of Niobrara and Kenneth F. Sage of Bloomfield, both for the signal corps. Sergeant Lyons said the group went to Camp Chaffee, Ark., for processing, training and reassign ment.
