Hodgkin received three fractures of the bones in her face in a car accident Wednesday, November 3, on a country road nine miles south of Ewing. The car struck a spot of clay covered with ice and snow, skidded and went into the ditch. It struck the guy wire of a telephone post, thro wring both Reverend and Mrs. Hodgkin out of the car. It is thought Mrs. Hodgkin struck the windshield and also the wire. Reverend Hodgkin es caped injury. The car was badly damaged. The accident occurred near the Melvin Spangler home. Other Chambers News The pupils of Valley Center district 107 enjoyed a party at the Vernon Whitaker home on Hallowe’en. Mrs. Clair Grimes left Satur day for Ottumwa, la., to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Loran Coppac, and family. Mrs. Genevieve Bell came from Neligh Tuesday, November 1, and visited her sister, Mrs. Clar ence Tibbets, until last Thursday when she departed for Eaton, Colo., for a few days’ visit witn her son and and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grime?. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Engelbaupt had their car side-swiped on highway 281 at the Inman turn off by a truck. The car was bad lv damaged. Members and friends of St. Paul’s Lutheran church enjoyed a family night party at the church Sunday evening. The occasion was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Alderson and boys, who are leaving soon for Oregon. Enter tainment consisted of group sing ing and organ music, using the new Wurlitzer organ and chimes. The organ was played by Mrs. Richard Fees. Mrs. Cleo Alderson visited from Tuesday, November 1, until Saturday with her brother-in-law and sister, assisting them with moving. Her sons, Gary and Mark, stayed in the H. C. Walter home. Sunday dinner guests in the Glen Grimes home were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harley and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Adams and Carolyn Wintermote. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner and children of Grand Island and Mrs. Willard Thomson and three daughters of Chambers were Sunday dinner guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Turner. Twenty-seven friends gathered at the E. H. Medcalf home Sun day for dinner and supper and to spend the evening. The occasion was in honor of the birthday anni versaries of Mr. Medcalf and Mrs. Steve Shavlik. The following relatives were supper guests in the Dellie Fau quier home last Thursday evening and later viewed slides shown by Lawrence Tangeman and Shortie Fauquier of a recent trip to Ore gon: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fau quier and Shortie, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tangeman and Lawrenea, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. A.
