Closson-Tomlinson Nuptials Are Read The First Methodist church in O’Neill was the scene Sunday, September 18, of the wedding of Miss Viola Geraldine Closson, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anson Closson of O’Neill, and Richard Edward Tomlinson, son of Richard L. Tomlinson of O’Neill and Doris Tomlinson of Denver, Colo. Rev. Glenn Kennicott perform ed the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Harold Seger played the nuptial music and was accom panist for Mrs. Grant Peacock, who sang “I Love You Truly” and “Because.” The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She selected a ballerina-length gown of mon astery white, fashioned of Chan tilly type lace and nylon net over satin. A lace fichu contoured the strapless top of the molded bodice which featured a pleated net midriff. The exceedingly full skirt was composed of alternate can-can ruffles of lace and net. Completing her ensemble was a matching lace bolero with scal loped Peter Pan collar and long, fitted sleeves. Her elbow-length veil of imported bridal illusion was held by a queen’s tiara of tiny pearls, rhinestones and se quins. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and red roses. Her jewelry was matching neck lace, earrings and bracelet of cul tured pearls. -J „ _ V, cousin, Mrs. Lloyd Relf of Rap id City, S.D., who wore a baller ina-length gown of orchid net over taffeta. She carried a bou quet matching that of the bride. The bridegroom wore a navy blue pin stripe suit. Attending the bridegroom was Russell Closson, brother of the bride. He wore a gray suit. Ushers were Gene Closson and Gene Gillogly. Mrs. Frank McKenny had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Edwin Burival had charge of the gifts. Following the ceremony, a re ception was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Olive Dexter baked and decorated the cake. Those serving were Nina Burival, Bar bara Strong, Patty Grenier and Mavis Strong. Assisting were Mrs. Lloyd Whaley, Mrs. Floyd Sanders, Mrs. Oswald Babutske, Mrs. Clyde Streeter, Mrs. Albert Marsh and Mrs. Vern Grenier. The couple left Sunday evening for Lincoln where they will make their home. The bridegroom is a student at the University of Ne braska. Mrs. Dean Perry had a badly infected right hand caused from a sandburr sticker. . . Mrs. Fritz Brockman returned home on Monday from St An thony’s hospital where she had been a patient for four days. She received a broken leg when she was kicked by a horse while out in the pasture. PAGE—Floyd Frahm had the misfortune to be in the path of a falling tree as he was working with a road maintainance crew near Inman on Monday. He was taken to St. Anthony’s hospital where it was determined he suf fered a three-way skull fracture. He spent a restless night Mon day. . . Mrs. Morlin Chichester, 1209 Longmont, Boise, Ida., daughter-inlaw of Mrs. Rose Chichester, submitted to major surgery at a hospital there. She had been taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Dec ker of Boise, were she will spend al ong convalescence per iod. VENUS — Mrs. Herman Darr and Mrs. R. Brookhouser visited with Mrs. Orval Stolp of Creigh ton, who is a patient at Our La dy of Lourdes hospital. Mrs. Stolp’s condition is “about the same.” . . Charles Montgomery, who is at Rochester, Minn., has undergone one operation, which gave him some relief. He will have others. . . . Dale Dorr of Creighton entered the Veterans hospital Thursday, September 15, where he is receiving medical aid. O’NEILL— Henry Sanders is in the Veterans hospital at Grand Island. . . “Pete” Petersen is suffering from arthritis. . .Gene Roberts, who was hurt September 1, in an truck upset near Clear Lake, S.D., spent several days last week in a Sioux Falls, S.D., hospital receiving a cast. He since has returned to the Clear Lake hospital. LYNCH—Mr. and Mrs. Barry Baker of Fairfax, S.D., came Monday to be with the former’s mother, Mrs. Ben Nelson, who was crtically ill at the Sacred heart hospital. DELOIT—Mr. and Mrs. Ferdi nand Hupp went to Grand island one day last week where Mr. Hupp had a checkup. . . Mrs. Carl Thiele was hospitalized in Neligh recently. AMELIA—Lloyd Waldo went to Omaha last week for a medical examination. He has been hay ing throat trouble and found Bie cause to be an infected gland. I Spectacular Fires Caused by Nature (Continued from page 1) was a fire near the C Bar M ranch, also at the L, B. Price, Howard McConnell and Dewey Schaffer ranches. Considerable hay was destroy ed on a field operated jointly by Adamson and Tomlinson. Flames covered about a mile of ground there. Some hay was lost. A shower helped curb the flames. Atkinson firemen also were out. There were six fires in the Amelia community. A fire was reported on the Albert Lemmer ranch. Motorists could see these fires breaking out on the horizon in many directions. The storm moved in from the west and left countless fires in the wake. Eight hundredths of an inch of rain fell here. Motorists arriving from the west reported spectacular fires raging at Valentine, Ainsworth and Bassett. O’Neill firemen worked ’way into the night. There were four fires between Bartlett and the Chambers junc tion. Holt Picnic Is Held— Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Baumeis ter and family and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Kissinger and family, all of Canoga Park, Calif., attended the Holt county picnic at Griffith park in Los Angeles, on Septem ber 11. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sauers and Mr. and Mrs. Walt Stein, all former resi dents of O’Neill. Inman News Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wolfe and family and Walter Jacox of Amelia were Sunday guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGraw. Visitors Here— Miss Barbara Becker, and her guests, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wessel rr.an and son, Bobby, of Kansas City, Kans., left Sunday after at tending the Judge-Petsche wed ding Saturday. They were guests of the L. A. Becker family. The Beckers entertained at dinner in their honor Saturday.
