Holt County Supervisors OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS O’Neill, Nebr. July 26, 1955 10:00 A.M. HoR County Board of Supervis ors met as per adjournment. All members present. Meeting called to order by the chairman. Mi nutes of *previous meeting read and approved as read. 10:00 A.M. This was the time set for hearing on damage claim concerning the opening of section line as presented by Shald Road petition. No one appeared for the hearing. The finance committee reported that the fees from the various of fices for the month of June have been remitted to the County Treasurer as required by law. Several from here attended the Carl Christon sale east of Ewing on Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Bartak and Mr. and Mrs Ewald Spahn at tended the state fair at Lincoln on Thursday and Friday. Marg Brewster, who teaches at Sunnyside, is boarding at the Jim Squire home. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Squire took their daughter, Patty, to Lincoln on Wednesday, September 7, where she will begin her nurse’s training. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Paul and Larry were last Thursday evening callers at the Bill Sehi home. L. Sisson, low and traveling. Next meeting will be with Mrs. Charles Mc Donald. Pat Bauer, Elayne Reimer and Nita Maben will attend teachers’ meeting at O’Neill on Friday. Daryl and Nina Paul of Elgin were Tuesday evening, September 6, visitors at the Wayne Paul home. Weekend visitors at the R. M. Tomjack home were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ray and Vicki and Gene Tomjack, who is in service and is stationed in a camp in Georgia. Leonard Miller, who is in camp in Wyoming, spent the weekend at home. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lodge and family of Petersburg were Sunday evening visitors at the Wayne Paul home. Angie Hupp, who was 9-years old Saturday, celebrated her birthday anniversary at school on Monday. Her mother furnished ice cream and cake for the party. Elizabeth L. French Bride of Chicagoan PAGE—Miss Elizabeth Louise French and Charles Alison Smith, both of Chicago, 111., said their marriage lines before 135 guests at Westminister chapel of the Fourth Presbyterian church in downtown Chicago on Saturday, August 27. Miss French is the daughter of Mr.'and Mrs. Bryan H. French of San Francisco, Calif., former re sidents of Page for many years. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. The couple left on a tour of Wisconsin and will be at home after September 10 at Milwaukee, Wise., where Mr. Smith has em ployment with an insurance com pany. Ex-Pupil Grateful for Temperance Pledge The Holt county Women’s Christian Temperance Union met Tuesday, August 30, at the home of Mrs. Edith Young in O’Neill. The date for the county institute to be held at Page has not been, announced. A tribute was accorded to Miss Meta Martin of O’Neill, by a for mer pupil, who had taken and signed a temperance pledge when a pupil in Miss Martin’s school 37 years ago. Legal Notice (First pub. Royal Defender was the top bull in the Shorthorn sale at Neligh two years ago. Twenty of the 55 cows are registered, are uni formly outstanding and will appeal to any Short horn breeder. This is a wonderful set of 53 spring calves. All, except about four head, can be taken from the cows. They are uniform calves and all about the same age. The Alderson herd of Shorthons was started many years ago with continuous up-breeding and improvement in the herd. Roans, reds and whites, showing breeding type and size. The milk cows are the ones that Mr. Alderson has picked out and kept because they are outstandingly good. All are fresh now and will freshen again in the spring.
