Presbyterial Set for Stuart Church STUART—The Women’s soc iety of the Community church met Thursday afternoon, Sept ember 8, in the church basement with 27 members and four visitors present. The visitors were Mrs. John Hasch of New port, Mrs. C. D. Farr, Mrs. Clif ford MeGreggor and Miss Lor raine Coats. The devotional program was lead by Mrs. Emil Olday. Mrs. Jane Cobb gave a report on the Synodical meeting she had at tended at Hastings, August 31 September 1. Plans were made for the fall Presbyterial of the western half of the Niobrara Presbytery. The affair will be held in Stuart Tuesday, September 20. Lunch was served by the hostess, Mrs. Dwaine Lockmon and Mrs. Neva Minnig. Other Stuart News Mrs. John McGrew and Mrs. Wilfred Seger spent last Thurs day evening at the James Seger j- home at Newport. The youth fellowship group of the Community church held its first meeting after summer vaca tion last Thursday evening with 31 present. Officers chosen for the year are: Don Minnig, mod rator; Richard Keidel, assistant moderator; Leola Clements, sec retary, and Doreen Shattuck, treasurer. The group will meet on Thursday evenings with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Cobb as the sponsors. Boarding Pupils Have Social Room St. Mary’s high school has ben organizing its various acti vities. Students have not elec ted all of the class officers, nor have they elected cheer leaders. The girls who are eligible for leaders led the cheers at the SMA-Spencer game Friday night. The seniors are editing a news sheet this year, feut are having difficulty in deciding on a title for it. The boarders are now enjoying a new social room, which was ! furnished for them over the summer by the Sisters of St. Francis. Houseguest— Mrs. Kate Kirkland is visiting a few days at the W. S. Kirkland | home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schenzel went to Norfolk Friday evening to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mallory. ■ ■ II—. ■' tm Robert Montgomery Takes Bride Sunday in Neligh Ritej EWING— The Congregational church at Neligh was the scene Sunday, September 11, of the wedding of Miss Phyllis Wehenkel and Robert L. Montgomery. Par ents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Milford Wehenkel of Neligh and Mr. and Mrs. George Mont gomery of Ewirlg. Rev. Royal Sheppard officiated. Miss Karen Lindahl was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Schrader. Both are of Neligh. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length, gown of nylon tulle over satin with a tucked bodice. The fitted jacket of chantilly lace was de signed with a Peter Pan collar and three-quarter length sleeves. Her fingertip veil of nylon tulle was trimmed with pearls and held by a pearl-trimmed tiara. She carried yellow roses on a white Bible. Attending the bride were her sister, Mrs. Russell Striker of Wood Lake, matron-of-honor, and Miss Barbara Wehenkel of Neligh, bridesmaid. Mrs. Striker’s flocr length gown of blue nylon tulle and lace over blue taffeta was topped with a nylon stole. Miss Pamela Wehenkel of Or chard was flowergirl. Harold Schwager of Clearwater was the bestman and Russell Striker of Wood Lake was grooms man. Russell Striker and Lorraine Montgomery of Ewing ushered. A reception was held following the ceremony at the church par lors. Assisting were Mesdames P.alph Thomas, Neal Wycoff, Ted Jillson and the Misses Lynda Kirk, Ruth Muckey, Marie Kester and Jolyene Kaczor of Ewing. After a wedding trip through the Western states, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery will make their home on a farm near Ewing. Return from 5,000-Mile West Coast Trip— On Tuesday, September 13, at 1 a.m., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gifford, Larry, Janet and Ray Allen arrived home after a 16 day nearly 5,000 mile trip to the West coast. They visited relatives and friends in Washington, Ore gon and Idaho and Black Hills, Crater Lake and Yellowstone parks. On Sunday, August 28, a fam ily picnic dinner was held at the R. H. Young home near Brew ster, Wash. Five of Mrs. Young’s children and 19 grandchildren attended church and Sunday school with her. Present at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gifford and three children of Dorsey, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford and five children of Entiat, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. John L.
