Mr. and Mrs. Louis Harley went to O’Neill Friday evening for a picnic supper in the park with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Duane McKay, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Medcalf and children of Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stevens and fam ily of Atkinson returned Tuesday, August 16, from Eaton, Colo., where they had visited their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grimes, and Bonnie. They ■yyere accompanied by Bon nie Grimes. All spent that evening in the Carpenter home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoffman vis ited in the Freeman Custard home at Bartlett Wednesday evening, August 24. The Hoffmans’ son-in law, Dan Custard, was recuperat ing at the home of his parents af ter having been hospitalized sev eral days in the Spalding hospital with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Benjamin and daughter, Martha, of Harri son, Ark., were last Thursday callers in the E. R. Carpenter home. Mr. Benjamin lived in the Amelia community a number of years ago. They also visited rela tives and friends there and at Burwell during their trip to Ne braska. Celia Students Enter Atkinson Hi, St. Joe’s CELIA—School started Monday at Celia with Miss Lois Adams of Spencer as teacher. The Hans Lauridsen school taught by Miss Isla Ruda of Bristow, also started the fall term of school Monday. Hendricks school with Mrs. Emil Colfack as teacher and the McKathnie school taught by Mrs. Lyle Damero, will begin Monday, September 5. Students from Celia who will attend Atkinson high school in clude Shirley Colfack, who will live at the Emanuel Kreiger home in Atkinson; Paul and Bill Focken, who will stay with the John Mohr family, Jim Hendrcks and Charles Sweet, who will make their home with Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hammerberg home; Carol Schlotfeld, who will stay with the Gene Tooker family, and Ronnie Frickel, who will drive to and from school for awhile Catherine and Patricia Kilmur ry are staying at the P. W. Kil murry home while they attend school at St. Joseph’s hall. The parochial school opened Wednes day, September 1, for the fall term. Ray Pease was a last Thursday visitor in O’Neill. Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman and sons were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Amelia Hoffman. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Scott were Monday evening, August 22, vis itors at the Frank Kilmurry home. Mr. and Mrs. William Spann were Sunday afternoon visitors at the Ray Pease home. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Marquardt of Norfolk were Monday evening, August 22, supper guests at the LeRoy Hoffman home. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendricks are living on the Mark Hendricks farm. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hend ricks and family are staying at the Ray Elder home for several weeks while Mr. and Mrs. Ray Elder go to Washington state to visit their daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Adams, and family. They also plan to visit their son, Keith. Af ter the Elders return, Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks and family will move to the Lloyd McDowell home while the McDowells spend the winter visiting relatives in several states. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith and family were Friday afternoon visitors at the Clarence Focken home. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dobias painted the inside of the Celia school building. Mrs. Maloun helped Mrs. Dobias scrub floors, desks, etc., at the school Satur day afternoon. Tuesday morning, August 23, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Marquardt, Alex Frickel and Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman and sons visited their sister, Mrs. Bennett Smith, and family of Butte. Billy Milner returned Friday morning from a week’s visit with relatives in Omaha. Frank and Marjorie Focken spent Friday afternoon with Billy Milner and they and their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Fock en, were Friday evening supper guests at the Maloun home. Mr. and Mrs. John Sicheneder were Sunday dinner guests at the Milton McKathnie home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pease and son were last Thursday evening visitors at the Victor Frickel home. Denny Beck spent from Tues day, August 23, to Saturday with his cousins, Roger and Gary Hoff man.
