Cardinals Prepare for Opening Tilt The St. Mary’s academy will open their football season Friday, September 9, when they take on the Spencer Pirates in an eight man Niobrara Valley conference game to be played at O’Neill. Already 31 prospective gridders have reported to check out equipment with the prospect of several more at the beginning of school. According to Cardinal Coach Don Templemeyer, this year’s squad will be considerably heav ier than the one last year.
