Jeanine Laursen Out of Hospital STAR—Jeanine Laursen 8 year-old daughter of Mr.’ and Mrs. Arden Laursen, is being re leased from the Orthepedic hos pital at Lincoln and will spend the remainder of the summer at her home. This fall she will return to the hospital for another operation on her leg. She is a granddaughter of Bill Derickson of Star. The little girl has never walked being afflicted since she was an infant. Misses Ruth Vonasek and Bren da Cole were honored at a birth day anniversary party Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Vonasek and family. Lunch was served after the young folks returned from a hay ride. The dance for all members at the Ash grove community hall on Sunday, July 31, will be sponsor ed by Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Wid halm, Mr. and Mrs. Lysle John son, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin John son and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson. Mrs. Ewalt Miller, Mrs. Elmer Juracek, Judy and Lyle, attended the wedding of Miss Mary Schmitz and Lewis Pierson at St. Patrick’s church in O’Neill Tues day morning, July 19. Miss Schmitz is a former teacher at the Gibson school. George Theirolff of Creighton, and a niece from Tamora oalled at the Ewalt Miller home Wednesday afternoon, July 20. Mrs. Elmer Juracek and children were also callers the same day. Miss Mary Fetrow of O Neill visited the past week with Miss Kay Hibbs. She returned to her home Saturday evening. Sanders. __ _ .. 1 ■■ Star Clubbers, Picnic, Tour Park STAR—The Star Get-Together club held a picnic at the Nio brara state park Sunday. The af ternoon was spent visiting, play ing cards and several of the group drove to the ferry and enjoyed a ferryboat ride across the Mis souri river. This was quite an attraction for those seeing it for the first time. Some of this group went on east of Niobrara to view Maiden’s Leap, several seeing it for the first time. Kansas Couple Here for Weekend— Mr. and Mrs. Dale Foree and daughter of Great Bend, Kans., arrived Saturday for a weekend visit with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Foree. Dale owns and operates a tire recapping plant at Great Eend and services Kansas points on U.S. highway 281 between the Oklahoma and Nebraska bounda ries with that state. The Dale Forees formerly re sided at O’Neill. Completes Specialist Training Course— ATKINSON—Army Pfc. Larry G. Kennedy, 21, son of M. B. Ken nedy of Atkinson, recently was graduated from the army’s Eta Jima specialist school in Japan. Kennedy completed the school’s fire-fighters’ course.
