CHAMBERS — The Chambers
Towners apparently were doing
everything correctly and the O’
Neill Rockets doing things wrong
ly here Sunday afternoon. Cham
bers walked off with an easy 16-1
North-Central Nebraska league
‘ victory.
Chambers cracked out 21 hits
off the O’Neill pitchers, Kelly
and Everetts, at the. same time,
Jerry Grimes kept the O’Neill
team shackled with four scatter
ed hits.
The win gave Chambers undis
puted possession “of first place.
Chambers lost no time in tak
ing the lead as they turned four
hits into as many runs in the first
inning. Bruce Grimes clouted a
homerun with two on to climax
the inning. The second inning
produced two more turns on three
o hits, also a flock of errors.
Grimes was very effective with
his knuckleball. Nesbitt was the
only O’Neill batter who could find
the range as he got three singles.
O’Neill’s only run came as the
result of a walk, a balk, and an
error, and that was after two
were out in the ninth.
The top hitters in this game for
Chambers were Hilligas with four
for five; Gribble and B. Grimes
with three for six, and Jerry
Grimes and Cameron with two
for four.0
The next two games for Cham
bers will be away from home at
Bassett and at Ainsworth.
Meanwhile, the Rockets will
entertain Burke, S.D., tonight
(Thursday) in Carney park.
The Chambers midgets were
defeated 11-6 by the Atkinson
midgets at Atkinson Friday, July
22.
