Resolution be adopted.
RESOLD TION
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
BY THE BOARD OF SUPER
VISORS OF HOLT COUNTY,
NEBRASKA, that hereafter, and
until otherwise modified or
changed, that all licenses for
the on-premises and off-premis
es sale of Beer located within
the County of Holt and outside
of incorporated towns, cities or
villages, restrict the hours of
sale and operation to conform
to the applicable regulations
governing the hours of sale of
like licenses within the nearest
incorporated town or village in
said County.
A roll call vote on the passage
of such resolution resulted as fol
lows: Aye: Barthel, Flood, Baten
horst, Tomlinson and Frickel.
Nay: Ernst. Whereupon the Chair
man declared such resolution duly
passed and adopted.
Motion by Flood, seconded by
Barthel, that the following Reso
lution be adopted. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The County of
Holt and State of Nebraska, has
an Old Age Assistance lien
against the real estate describ
ed as the Northeast Quarter of
Southeast Quarter of Section 11
in Township 27 North, Range
10, West 6th P.M. in Holt Coun
ty, Nebraska, for old age as
sistance grants allotted to Elmer
and Edna Michaelis, and
WHEREAS, Melvin Michaelis
has offered to pay to the Coun
ty of Holt, State of Nebraska,
the sum of $100.00, as a compro
mise settlement in full payment
of said lien, and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Su
pervisors of Holt County, Ne
braska, have made a thorough
investigation in the premises,
and considering the sum of
$100.00 to be a fair and equit
able amount to be paid in com
promise and settlement of said
lien,

ty, Nebraska, is hereby direct
ed and authorized to release of
record the old age assistance
lien, in favor of the State of
Nebraska and the County of

west Quarter of Section 11 in
Township 27 North, Range 10,
West 6th P.M. in Holt County,
Nebraska, upon receipt of the
payment of the sum of $100.00.
After discussion, a roll call vote
thereon was taken which resulted

Holt County Board of Super
visors met as per adjournment.
All members present.
Motion by Barthel, seconded by
Tomlinson, that after reviewing
by the board, the petition on the
road 3 miles south of Chambers
Corner thence 5 miles West. Hie
decision was made by the County
Board that whenever the road is
brought up to County Approval
the County will take over such
road for maintenance and snow
removal. Motion carried.
1:30 P.M. This was the time
set for the hearings on the open
ing of section line commencing at
the Southwest comer of Section
1, in Township 31, North, Range
16, West 6th P.M. in Holt Coun
ty, running thence East on the
Section lines, a distance of two
miles, to connect with the Stuart
Naper Highway at the Southwest
Comer of Section 5, in Township
31, North, Range 15, West 6th
P.M. in Holt County.
Motion by Frickel, seconded by
Barthel, that the County Survey
or be instructed to make a pre
liminary survey on this road peti
tion and report back to the Coun
ty Board at their meeting of June
28, 1955 at 1:30 P.M. Motion car
ried.
2:00 P.M. Time set for hearing
on the Road Petition presented by
the people of Inman Township,
Commencing at the west end of
the present road between Sections
six and seven, Township twenty
seven, North, Range eight, from
Inman, thence straight east on
said Section line to the Junction
of Highways 275 and 20.
Motion by Barthel, seconded by
Erast, that the prayer of said pe
tion be denied and the road be
left as a township road. Motion
carried.
5:00 P.M. On motion the board
adjourned until June 27, 1955 at
10:00 A.M.

annual picnic at the park last
Thursday wih 10 members and
four children present. Roll call
was to answer the question:

you like?” The sponsor conducted

Is 4-Years-Old—
Jimmy Grady celebrated his
fourth birthday anniversary Mon
day. He is the son of the J. Ben
Gradys.
Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Owens and
three children of Kansas City,
Mo., arrived last Thursday to visit
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J.
Golden. Doctor Owens went home
Friday but will return at a later
date.
Tom Foye of Rapid City, S.D.,
was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Froelich here recently.

Honored at Family Reunion
The fifth annual Tuch family reunion was held Sunday, July

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Leonard and
daughters of Wakefield spent the
weekend visiting in the home of
Violet and Ruf Sholes and also
with relatives and friends.
Members of the RLDS church
held their regular Sunday-school
and church services at the Donald
Wolfe home near Amelia. A bas
ket dinner was served at noon. In
the afternoon ice cream and cake
were served in honor of Mrs. H.
T. McGraw’s birthday anniver
sary, which is this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark and
family and Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Sholes and girls were Sunday
evening callers in the Violet
Sholes home.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stevens of
Page, Mrs. Vivian Martin and
Mrs. Uhl of O’Neill were Sunday
evening callers in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wrede and
Chucky and Holly.
Clayton Krueger, who attends
summer school at Wayne, spent
the weekend here visiting his
brother, Roger, and with other
relatives and friends.
The WSCS met Thursday after
noon at the Methodist church for
a regular session. Mrs. Hazel
Lorenz, president, was in charge
of the meeting and Miss Elsie
Krueger led the devotionals. Mrs.

ed a stated meeting of Symphony
Chapter Order Eastern Star in
O’Neill on Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Vaden Kivett and
Keith returned home Thursday
night after spending the past
three weeks visiting relatives and
friends in Washington and Idaho
state.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd DeLong
have returned home from a two
weeks’ vacation spent in the
western states.
Mrs. Anna Clark and Mrs.
Ralph Moore entertained the LL
club at their home on Wednesday
afternoon, July 13. The afternoon
was spent socially after which re
freshments were served by the
hostesses.
Arbutus Rebekah Lodge met
in regular session Wednesday,
July 13, at the IOOF hall. Karl
Keyes was in charge. Mrs.
Mae Fetrow of O’Neill, district
deputy president, was present and
took an active part in the meet
ing. Refreshments were served.
The committee in charge were
Mareta Nielsen, Blanche Moss
man, Ruth Watson and Grace
Luben.
LeRoy Moore, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Moore, went to Om
aha on Wednesday morning, July
13, where he passed his physical
examination and was sent to
Camp Chaffee, Ark., for his basic
training.
Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Keyes drove
to Valentine on Thursday where
they spent the day. Their daugh
ter, Miss Murl, returned home
with them and visited until Sun
day.
Mrs. Ira Watson, Mrs. H. E.
Smith, Mrs. James McMahan,
Miss Elsie Kruegar, Miss Mildred
Keyes and Karl Keyes drove to
Norfolk Friday evening where all
attended a regular meeting of
Deborah Rebekah lodge 63.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomlts R. Wat
son of Rapid City, S.D., arrived
here Friday night and spent the
night with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. L. Watson. They left the
next morning for Gulfport, Miss.
Leonard Sawyer of Royal pre
sented the Inman band in an out
door concert on the lawn south of
the telephone office on Friday
evening. A good crowd enjoyed
the concert and Inman is mighty
proud of its little band.
Miss Kay Coventry, who is em
ployed in O’Neill, spent the week
end visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. James Coventry and Bill.
Mrs. Sid Sharbono and child
ren of Savage, Mont., are visiting
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Chudomelka.
Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Butler
were Sunday guests in the home
of their son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Vere Butler, and
family at Newport.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jessen of
Lincoln were Sunday evening
guests in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. James M. McMahan.
Harvey Tompkins was an Ains
worth visitor on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Watson, their
daughter, Carolyn, and Miss Mar
ty Campbell of Fremont, a house
guest in the Watson home, drove
to Bassett on Sunday where they
attended the wedding of Miss
Marilyn McClurg, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Warren McClurg of
Bassett and Leland Wheeler of
Laramie, Wyo. The McClurgs are
former Inman residents. Mr. and
Mrs. McClurg formerly taught
here.
Sam Watson, who spent the
past week in Valentine visiting
his brother-in-law and sister, Dr.
and Mrs. W. J. Slusher and boys,
met his parents in Bassett on
Sunday and returned home with
them.
Mrs. L. R. Tompkins and Mrs.
H. A. Tompkins attended the Mc
Clurg-Wheeler wedding.

Holds Reunion—
There was a Schultz family re
union in O’Neill Sunday, July 17,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Kersenbrock. AH members were
present with the exception of
Eernard Spry and small son.
Those present included Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Tadd of Louis
burg, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Owen
Hiatt, Joe and Frances of Omaha;
Mrs. Bernard Spry, Rachel and
Zane of Ralston; Mr. and Mrs.
John Schultz and girls and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Schultz, Ronda and
Calvin.
A family group picture was
taken at 11 a.m., followed by a
picnic dinner served on the lawn
at* the Kersenbrock home.

Hearing Tests for
School Children
At a dinner meeting here of
the newly-formed Holt county
chapter of the Nebraska Society
for Crippled Children, the officers
and directors decided to take
steps to conduct audio tests for
Holt county children. A commit
tee was appointed to investigate
the task and arrange with the
Omaha office |or loan of an audi
ometer for test purposes. Two
school superintendents in the
group encouraged the move.
Named to the committee were
Miss Alice French of O’Neill,
chairman; Frank Beelaert of Page,
J. G. Brewster of Stuart, Mrs. J.
P. Brown of O’Neill and Mrs.
Kieth Sexton of Chambers.
Mrs. F. J. Brady of Atkinson is
chairman of the Holt chapter.
Vice-chairmen named are Mrs.
Guy Cole of O’Neill, Mrs. N. P.
McKee of Atkinson, Mrs. C. J.
Meininger of Stuart, Mrs. Kieth

O’Neill National bank, was des
ignated as treasurer for the Holt
chapter; Miss French, Holt super

Orson Perkins of Omaha, exec
utive secretary of the Nebraska
society, was speaker. He outlined
the aims and purposes of the
county organization, namely to
extend service to handicapped
children within the county in
every way possible.

S.D., Sunday where they attend
ed the funeral of Judge Joseph R.
Cash.
Mrs. Vannie Newman returned
Sunday from a two week’s visit
with her daughter, Mrs. Jerry
Babl, and family at Holdrege.
Rural Youth Camp
at Curtis—
The state Rural Youth camp is
being held this year at Curti*
July 29, 30 and 31. Rural Youth
members and other young men
and women between the ages of
17 and 30 are eligible to attend.
“An interesting program in
cluding recreation will be pro
vided. Anyone interested in at
tending this camp is asked to get
in touch with the county agent's
office,” according to Mrs. Cather
ine Indra, Holt county home
agent.

tives in Seward and York this
week.
